here are some pics of the 78th annual academy booklet that mooska mentions above. yes, a love/hate thing for sure.... but here it is for those that might be interested... as mentioned, it's black and white and gold, lots of gold, with old vintage pics throughout. the pics are black and white too, but where there is an oscar statuette, it's also gold. all that glitters i suppose, but for me, that gold has been tarnished.

more pics:

in the last pic, i imagine it as annie telling off the ampas big shots ;D

IMO, this is an entra-ordinarily important effort.  I'd go a couple steps further ... Is it legit to contact (email) the various owners about the existence of this list?  It could be worth a web site / forum for owners to meet / contact each other; perhaps even sell items amung themselves.  But MOST importantly, I can see the day, maybe 5 - 10 years down the road when someone who knows the art / exhibition business might try putting together an exhibition of these items for NYC, LA, SF.  Knowing who the owners are, without having to become a super detective, without having to expend a huge amount of effort to track them down, would go a long way towards making that happen.

I keep wondering what happened to the quilt on Jack's bed in Lightning Flat.  Does anyone know whether it was ever sold?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SHEET MUSIC FOLIO HAS FINALLY ARRIVED!

I don't know if this has already been mentioned anywhere, but I haven't seen it.  After hounding the owner of the San Francisco Music Center since February, when he told me that this was going to be published, it is finally available.

The 47-page folio has a high-gloss version of the movie poster on the cover, but unfortunately no inside photographs.  The songs are:

He Was A Friend of Mine

A Love That Will Never Grow Old

King Of The Road

The Devil's Right Hand

No One's Gonna Love You Like Me

I Don't Want To Say Goodbye

I Will Never Let You Go

An Angel Went Up In Flames

It's So Easy

The Maker Makes

The Wings

The official title is "BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN - Music From the Motion Picture Soundtrack - Piano * Vocal * Guitar".  It's distributed by Hal Leonard and the inventory number is HL00313333.  It is $16.95.

My guess is that even some people who don't normally buy sheet music might want this.  Most big cities have a sheet music store, although smaller ones don't anymore.  You can find a source in the Yellow Pages under "Music, sheet" or probably find it online.  It just came out last week.

I was pretty happy about this development!

I just found the sheet music book on eBay from a company in Escondido.  I opted to Buy It Now for the $16.95 price, and expect to get it sometime this week.  I had already found arrangements of some of the songs on musicnotes.com, available via download, but the book is definitely the better buy!

Something that's always left off these lists are the jackets that Ennis & Jack wore ( Ennis jacket was brown; Jack's was green).

They were auctioned off at the HRC awards banquet in New York City back in February. My partner and I travelled from Chicago to see Ang and Jake receive awards from HRC (Jake was unable to make it because he was still filming).

Anyway--- a board member of HRC (NYC) won the bid. He paid a lot for them, but nowhere near what Tom Gregory paid for the shirts. You don't hear much about them anymore. I think that I may contact some local HRC people to find out what the winner had done or is doing with the jackets.

I just found a listing for Ennis' jacket on eBay just a little while ago with a starting bid of $199.  The jacket is being auctioned by Live Oak Farm Auction House, who has made arrangements with the jacket's present owner, a senior production staff member from the film.  Apparently there were duplicate pieces of wardrobe available, and this item is the last one to be made available.  In case anyone is interested, the link is:  http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=016&item=260006375275&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1

Thanks so much, Mooska, for all of your hard work in compiling this list of important memoribilia from the film.  I have acquired a few items myself, including the 176 page unedited version of the screenplay, a FYC CD of the musical score, and just recently won the 2nd of 2 DVD Press Kits that were being offered by the seller.  I have missed out on the props, as the bidding got a bit rich for my blood.  However, I'm keeping my eyes open for anything significant that comes along on eBay.  Like I mentioned in my previous post, the last of the duplicate jackets is now being offered up.  I'd love to obtain it . . . maybe it's just wishful thinking.

Hey all!  During the last 16 hours, I've compiled my list of BBM acquisitions from eBay, and I just added the latest item -- a copy of the Golden Globe Awards program, won just now.  I'm planning to share my completed list once I get back to my Florida residence where the bulk of the collection resides, but the present list is fairly complete from my eBay/PayPal records.  It rather boggles the mind when the figures add up.  Just another aspect of my obsession!

better yet, rodney, may i suggest checking with nearby gay straight student groups at high schools and colleges near you and see if they would like a showing and discussion session  or some kind of program leading into the exhibit.  in all probablity, if they don't have a copy for their school library the forum or individual donors could provide them, if they are interested.

i would be glad to work with you to help develop this idea, and we have a number of dedicated brokies around florida now so that it might be offered eventually throughout the state.  you might also want to inquire of area gay and lesbian community centers.

i think a mobile display might be both fun and a public service.  if ever there was an effective tool to combat homophobia it is this movie.

Hey there Jack!  You made some first class suggestions in that post of yours and as soon as I get back to Florida (end of October), I'd like to take you up on that offer to assist.  With this treasure trove that I have accumulated, I really want to share it with people who can reap some benefit.

at the request of the management...

Pete just put up a poll at http://davecullen.com/forum/index.php?topic=12326.0 so we can find out approximately how many books we need to have printed in the first run. I don't know a single soul who gets around these threads better or more than you do. So I wondered if you would help us spread the word and get a bunch of folks to fill out the poll for us. Could you point them in that direction as you move from thread to thread (like a ministering angel)?
