We should start a new thread or add on to this one--
Brokeback Mountain merchandise we would like to see or would buy.

A friend of mine yesterday out of the blue said "If they
came out with Brokeback Ken and Skipper dolls, would
you buy them?"

And while at first I thought no way, I finally
had to say that I probably would...

This thread is really just about DVD special editions. General merchandise should have a separate thread.

This whole section of the board is Film, Book, and DVD, so I can't start a merchandise thread here.

Its nice to know there are other people who also pace the dose of BMM! I am in this for life.

I would like a HD-DVD release
To get to see any and all matrial that has not been seen before
More very high quality still photos
Anything really, as long as its BMM

Does anyone know where I can download the theatre trailer? I can only access it to watch with realplayer video streaming, but I want to own it as a file on my computer. Tips anyone?

Perform an EBAY search for Brokeback Mountain CD Press Kit. It contains a trailer, 20 pix, movie notes, slideshow, and background music while you view the pix. You will not regret your purchase.

I have to tell you that I just received by mail the Deluxe Taiwanese edition of the BBM DVD.    It's BEAUTIFUL!!!

There are two discs with beautiful shots from the film on the outside and inside cover of the DVD case. It also comes with very nice postcards (featuring different scenes from the movie, including the dozy embrace) which are printed on vintage-looking paper, as well as a soft-cover edition of "Close Range" (in mandarin) with a picture of the shirts on the front cover.
The whole thing fits nicely into a denim-covered box with the simple mention (in English) of "Brokeback Mountain, an Ang Lee film" on the front side and "Love is a force of nature" on the back side.

As for the extras on the discs, it's kind of difficult to know exactly what's been added because the discs are formatted for the "asia zone". But I don't care! It just looks so nice!

I'm telling you, when you compare this to the naked and rush-released edition that we got in North America, it's a real disgrace!  When you look at the Taiwanese edition, It's obvious that a whole lot of time and attention was put in designing the whole package. Bravo to the Taiwanese, they certainly know better than we do how to pay tribute to a beautiful movie!

By the way, the movie is presented in both a dolby digital version and a DTS version; so I really don't understand why we were offered the dolby version only in North America.

As for me, this edition will sit prominently among my many BBM goodies!  For those interested, you can purchase this edition from yesasia.com, and ordering from them is as easy as ordering from amazon. I ordered my item last week and 6 days later it has arrived here in Canada!!

Oh, if there's room I'd like to see as a special feature the film
Surf Party included that Alma and Ennis watch in the drive-in.
It's only 68 minutes long.

...and maybe that Kojak episode...

 ;)

Okay, so if one did get the deluxe Taiwanese edition, is the English soundtrack intact?  Are there subtitles that we can turn off when watching?

Remember, the most common definition of an American is the ability to speak and understand only English!

It would be neat to have a disk of extras including the awards ceremonies such as the BAFTAS and Oprah's show with the cast (I watched it again last week and got it recorded and saved this time).  All of these glimpses of the actors reinforces their abilities.  I will never get over the shock at how they all appeared like children when first seeing them on Oprah months ago after seeing them in the movie.  Include the Tonight Show appearances and Letterman, Ellen, and any and all English and Australian TV shows.  They all round out the humanity of these people and their genius and the genius of Ang Lee in coaxing them along.

I really don't care for any DVD extras.  I just like to see a movie on DVD and that just suits me fine.  I find it annoying that so many studios are putting a deluge of previews right before a movie starts.

Virgin Megastore was giving out an official  booklet with their BBM DVD. I believe it was the one designed for the oscars but could be wrong. I would very much like this booklet to be included in a special edition version of DVD. I'd pay a lot for it!

I'd also like deleted scenes and extended love scenes as well as commentary from actors/director.

The taiwanese documentary or other "new" interview clips with the principals.

Trailer and possible music video would be great too.
