Not sure where this fits in, but where in the film did they play the Linda Ronstadt song that is on the soundtrack. Seems so very out of place with the rest of it (but I know there must be something behind it!)

One of the bar scenes with Ennis and Cassie...Yeah, I wish that song did not make it to the soundtrack.

The music that plays after the first tent scene when Ennis is riding a ridge, before he gallops to the dead sheep, is not on the soundtrack that I can tell. Is that common to leave off some of the background music?

Yeah, it's pretty common.  I have found that very often, some of the best music composed for a film never makes it onto the soundtrack.  I would love every note from BBM on this one.

If I have any complaint about the score at all--and I'm not sure I do--is that there's just not much *of* it.  Only what? about 15 minutes of music composed for movie thats 2 hours and 15 minutes?   Restating themes and building on them is one thing.  Just using the same snippet of music numerous times in the same film is something else.  That's one of the reasons I'll be very surprised if it snags an Oscar.  It's gorgeous, but it's very thin.

There's a lot in this film that isn't on the soundtrack.  The music underscoring their second night in the tent is one of the most gorgeous examples.  I hardly noticed it in the theater (guess my attention was focused elsewhere), but after downloading the clip and playing it a few times it's been haunting me.

Can someone help me with the lyrics in the last couple of phrases of "Maker Makes."  I think the idea is that the one thing the maker can't make is "a happy man of me."  But I just can't figure out what Rufus is saying.  Anyone know?

The actual year that Cassie and Ennis meet isn't specified, but it would be sometime late 70s or early 80s, I think. "It's So Easy" came out in 1977 and was a BIG hit--it's STILL on jukeboxes. So I don't think it was a bad choice and it rather fits with Cassie's character--what did she know about Ennis before she fell for him? Not much and it WAS so easy--for her.

As many fellows in the world (I'm french, sorry for my english  :-\), my guts are upside down till I saw BBM. No words to explain it... Also, the music is great too and thanks to guys who wrote some texts, not easy for foreigners to well understand  texts of songs. So, if one of you can send the text of "An Angel Went Up In Flames" thank you.

For me this song reminds me so much of Brokeback Mountain even though it is not in the film.

It's perhaps a song that perhaps might be sung of Jack.
Even as a eulogy after his death/killing.  :'(

It seems to describe the cheeky, full of life Jack.  ;)

What do you think?  Does it remind you of Brokeback Mountain too?

Good point...I always thought it was there for the irony factor...but I never thought about it before as Cassie's "theme."  Boy, would she be changing her tune.
