"Deep Thoughts and Poems" post your work here.
« on: March 27, 2006, 09:07:24 PM »
I previously posted two poems of mine in a thread called "Lil Darlin's slice of the forum" and passed the idea on to Mod Squad member Desperadum about a poetry thread.

He took that idea to the mods and Dave, and I got word back to "go with it", sooooo anyone who has put pen to paper (or thoughts to word pad) and they want to share their work,  now is your chance to go for it.

I don't think my poetry is all that, soooo I'll start with some of my stuff, and then hopefully others will be willing to share what they have done.

The Empty Frame

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I wake up, and turn off the alarm
look at the pictures in my room
all the friends that are around me
and the empty frame
waiting to be filled

I drive to work, and look to my right
at the empty passenger seat of my car
wishing there was an indentation in it
from where someone was sitting

I walk through my day at work
processing paperwork
while the woman at the desk next to me
is making dinner plans with her husband
and I have to go to other people's desks
and see pics of wives and husbands

I go to the park for my jog
and work up a sweat
as I watch couples hand in hand
taking in the sunset
while I run by unnoticed

My family is away, so I make myself dinner
for one
and listen to mindless chatter on tv
no messages from friends on my machine
they are all busy
with their husbands or wives

I sign onto my personal ads online
and go through the replies
another rejection....oh well
there's always tomorrow

Getting into the bed
sliding between cold sheets
even a single bed can feel like a king size
when you are alone in it
set the alarm and look at the empty frame
wondering when I'll have a pic
to put in it.

In the Shadows

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the shadows is where I stand
As I hold my heart in hand
Wishing you would come to see
That what you want is here with me

I make you laugh, I make you smile
We talk for hours, we walk for miles
You tell me dreams, you tell me plans
But what I want is to be your man

Good times for us would never end
But when you see me, you see "friend"
For you, I feel there is no other
But you say I'm like a brother

So I hold back how I feel
not being 100% real
'Cause I'd rather have you as a friend
Than scare you off in the end

Some days it's fine, don't really care
That it's just friendship we share
And other days, well, let's just say
I wish you'd come around to stay.

In the shadows is where I stand
As I hold my heart in hand
I sense you are a special guy
But waiting for you makes my heart cry

The Crush

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It seems the crush I had on you
Has finally reached an end
For me to say feelings go on
Would only be pretend

It was a crazy time for me
To that, I will not lie
I used to wonder “why not me?”
Stay up at night and cry

You had no idea I felt this way
I never let it show
I kept the feelings to myself
So that you wouldn’t know

I’ve opened up my eyes, quite wide
And finally see the light
And realize now that us ‘hooking up’
Just would not have been right

I prayed to God every night
That you’d let some feelings show
Now I see He answered those prayers
But what he said was “No”.

But that’s ok, I’m not “crushed”
Though some might think I’ll be
We’re two very different people
I’ve finally come to see

I hope the man you’ve fallen for
Loves you until “the end”
And you’ll always have a place in my heart
Because I call you friend.

we walked in wind, free like waves in the grass of the plains as far as we could see.

hand in hand, skin to skin, skin to sky, saying no words, and none to say words against us.

two in one soul, one wind, one world.

brokeback today

watched a movie called brokeback, today,
about two cowboys, both of them gay.
i walked in the theatre expecting to cheer,
but it left me in shambles, face wet with tears.

the scene that got me was not in the tent,
it wasn't the kiss or the postcards sent.
not ennis' fears, or jack's greatest wish,
or even the times the boys left to fish.
(tho it was sweet to see them at their best,
and so sad to see alma put to the test.)

i think the best scene, at least in my mind
was the entire damn movie, and the love the boys find.
my hat's off to ANG, and the actors, and crew,
for movies like this are too far between and few.

------------------------------------------------  aw heck, may as well continue the theme, lol.

'twas the night before brokeback

'twas the night before brokeback, and an eager cowpoke
filled a brown paper bag with two shirts and some smokes.
a shy kid, he hitched rides on rigs goin' across state,
then he stepped foot in signal, not knowing his fate.

it was there he met jack, and as love would decree,
his heart would soon fill with much beauty and glee.
with jack wearing a black hat and ennis one white,
they explored forces of nature that just felt so right.

jack's last name was twist, and he sure was a stud,
ennis was a del mar, and he made my heart thud.
they rode up the mountain and set up their camp,
and the days soon unfolded, some sunny, some damp.

now jack, he liked soup, while ennis liked beans,
and they both looked so good in and out of their jeans.
oh, tended the sheep, sure, they did that all right,
but when jack said c'mere, it was love thru the night.

they smoked and shared whisky, singing songs in the sun,
they ripped off their clothes and had man to man fun.
they reveled in youth and made quite the fine pair,
and they did so without knowing of aguirre's harsh stare.

when they left their sweet mountain, there arose such a clatter,
but their love still endured and distance was no matter.
when ennis rushed to the window and saw love standing there,
he raced down the stairs to kiss jack with no care.

(and oh, what a kiss! it knocked me off my seat, to capture this on film must be no easy feat!)

alma spied this great kiss and it dealt quite a blow,
but she didn't say much, and the boys did not know.
then, what to our wondering eyes should appear,
but the love 'tween two men, and two souls we hold dear.

with the moon on the riffles of rivers by tents,
it seemed that their love really did make good sense.
tho jack was impatient, and ennis would not sway,
the love they both shared just could not go away.

it could be like this always!
jack knew that was true,
but ennis said no way,
and this stuck like glue.
when jack cried, i wish
i knew how to quit you!
ennis was forced to utter
then, why don't you?!

as black plastic bags in a wyoming wind fly,
jack was met with an obstacle and went up to the sky.
this left ennis crushed, with just one thing to do,
to fix it and stand it... yes, this much is true.

then, in a twinkling, ennis says from the heart,
(and tho this was the end, it's my favorite part)

"jack, i swear..."

and the man falls apart

we see tears in his eyes,
and the closet is shut.
he's left alone in a world
asking if, and, and whut.

we may wonder, as fans, what becomes of this man,
we know great love endures, and we do give a damn.
it's no easy question, but it's clear we understand
that love is a force of nature -- and ain't love grand?

ennis in jack

there once was a boy name of ennis del mar,
never once left wyoming, never once drove a car.
altho he was shy, he was mighty well hung,
with balls big as apples that swayed as they swung.

he met up one spring with a kid called jack twist,
and sure as the sunset they did more than kiss.
now, ennis was good with his hips and his tongue,
but he wasn't experienced -- then again, he was young.

jack was no virgin and showed ennis the ropes,
told him to slow down, even tried using soap:
that ol' dr. bronner, sighed jack, eyes glazed with lust,
sure invented a product a cowboy could trust!

BROKEBACK HAMSTER

this here's 'bout a hamster, called fibber mcgee,
who escaped from his cage to go catch a movie.
the film was called brokeback, the mountain, ya know,
'bout two men in love, sharing hearts and a soul.

the reason ol' fibber snuck outta his cage,
was at three years old, he's advancin' in age.
plus, fibber in a past-life, was a vibrant gay man,
with blond hair, blues eyes and a beautiful tan.

his hamster gut instinct said he had to get out,
to see the fine show he'd heard so much about.
he scampered with care on sidewalks of the city,
crept into the arclight, hid under seat C-33.

the human that sat up above ol' fibber's head,
had seen brokeback twelve times. his name was ted.
ted had bought popcorn and a few kernels fell,
which delighted ol' fibber, for popcorn was swell.

the movie then started, it took fibber's breath away,
with the music, the scenery, and the gay cowboy way.
fibber held his breath during every tent scene,
but even for a hamster, he saw nothing obscene.

sure, ennis was handsome, but jack was his fave,
fibber smiled as he whispered, "i'd be his love slave!"
he didn't like the stud duck, and certainly not joe,
but he did like jack's son, and the caw of the crow.

as the movie advanced and the story unfolded,
fibber bawled out loud, sounding just like the crow did.

(but hamsters are tiny, and no one could hear,
so fibber kept crying like a drunk in his beer.)

now fibber's a hamster, and it shouldn't be this way,

but it was...

and he knew it...

yup...  fibber was gay.

brokeback left fibber a big bawling of mess,
tears fell from his eyes, soaking his furry chest.
he had to get home before his owner found out,
that he'd snuck out his cage, and out of the house!

once safe back and home, snuggled warm in his nest,
he remembered the movie, knowing full well it was best.
fibber cursed the damn academy for voting in crash,
as he spit out his nut shells he instead called it trash.

when he slept in a slumber ol' fibber did dream,
of his past-life as a gay man in the early gay scene.
he was riding a 10-speed, but it turned into a horse,
then he was soon herding sheep...

...up on brokeback, of course. ;)

lookin' down at his paws, he swore he saw boots,
lookin up he saw jack and the way that he shoots.
fibber tossed in his sleep now, because this he knew,
was the scene where the elk, sadly, turns into stew.

for all those with newfound love online:

OSAGE

whispering comforting messages
gently lifting and grazing on words
binding without complication
two hearts that belong

DREAM CLOSET

in my dream i opened a hidden door in the floor
which revealed a copper lined room
like a closet glowing in russet hues
and there i found the garments of our past

you and i

and wondered could we wear them still
i pulled a few items out for you
of course i'd never seen these before

in this life

but somehow i knew them well
found your jacket: wool and leather
and my silk shirts
there were the parkas we used to wear
before you knew me
before we ever graced these slopes

TRUST

i'd jump off waterfalls with you
i could if you were squeezing tight my hand
only under water which from above looked far away
would i let go if even slowly goes our twin ascent and play

[/b]

CellarDweller, your poem, "The Empty Frame," lets me know that I am not the only one who sleeps alone every night.  I could "feel" the words come to life with every verse.  You are talented!

CellarDweller, "In the Shadows," gives me that gnawing feeling in the stomach of how much you want to tell someone that you are attracted to him yet you cannot tell him the truth because you fear losing his friendship.  Well written!

CellarDweller, your talents, again, go unsurpassed with "The Crush."  We all go through our crushes and plenty of them will turn out to be silly ones, after all. Time is a healer for all crushes.

Gnash, "Brokeback Today" plus "'Twas the Night Before Brokeback" are "feel it in the heart" poems.  I can sense the labor of love you put into both.

Gnash, "Ennis in Jack" is erotic poetry in motion.
