"Moving On" instills confidence in someone who had another treat he or she badly.  I kept thinking of "I Will Survive."  Your poem produces the same "I got even with you" scenario as espoused by Gloria Gaynor.  Makes me feel good inside.

"Worth" makes me re-evalute my life.  You are never too old for a change.

“Jack I Swear”

The subtle trace of breeze upon my face,
The sound of crackling embers as they fade,
The biting cold that rips my weakened heart,
The words catch in my throat, too long delayed.

I feel the breath of whispered words so near,
They comfort through the thin cold mountain the air.
That time of fear and longing intertwined…
Just for one single moment more - I swear.

To say I’d give my life is not enough,
This weathered weary heart’s not worth a dime.
The tragic truth will haunt me all my days,
I’ll bear the cross of blame that’s surely mine.

When day is done I lie upon my bed,
Each lonely night, the same repeated prayer
To meet you once again in twilight sleep.
For just one single dream of you – I swear

And as I slowly wake to morning rain,
I taste the tears still wet upon my face.
So desperate to reclaim my restless sleep,
Unwilling to release your sweet embrace.

But yes, the cold gray morning always finds me,
It knows not of my dreams and doesn’t care,
And so I rise to face the life I’ve chosen.
But oh, things would be different, Jack…I swear.

yukie, your poem is excellent.  It reminds me of what I hear over and over again:  "If I could only just have one day to spend with someone who has left this world."  Touching poem!

gnash, and yukie, thanks for the addtions!

Yukie, yours is a great way to revisit Brokeback.   :)

Gnash, I love how in the poem, your sister is talking about how she is afraid of you going to hell, not realizing she is making your life here, hell.

Thank you Casper and Cellardweller. I've been reading everyone else's contributions on this thread and have enjoyed and been moved by them. I haven't written anything for a very long time, let alone have anyone read it. This film has left me with a sense of something inside that needed to come out. In some crazy way Jack and Ennis seem to be part of who I am now.

I will tell you, Jack, that your "Roses are Red" poem is short and sweet but packs the punch!

the Undone Puzzle

_____________________________________

Sitting here, thinking that life makes no sense
It’s all jumbled, like the letters on the keyboard
That is in front of me, at work
All out of sequence, and meaning nothing
I type, and force them to fit, to make sense
Put them into sequence, and into form
So why is it I can figure out this “puzzle”
But my life feels like a jigsaw
That has been carelessly poured out of its box
Into a pile on the floor
And then left there, a mess to be figured out later
Because it is too hard to make sense out of right now

What does not kill you makes you stronger
I believe that
But strength has limits
And I’m getting tired of having mine tested
While I put on a happy face
So that no one will be concerned
Besides, if it’s my life, and I can’t figure it out
How can anyone else do that for me
And doesn’t that defeat the purpose of living anyway
To learn as you live
If you have someone else giving you the answers

Still sitting here, while there is a pile of work
Sitting next to me, to be processed
While I look for motivation to get it done
Instead of letting my mind wander
And go where it should not
And be where it should not
Is it “go home” time yet?
I want to walk in the park
And at least feel like I did something today
That was to my benefit
Other than just sitting here
Doing nothing
And wondering if I’m on the right path
looking at the pile
needing to get the puzzle together

Chuck, "The Undone Puzzle" is a lament to all the mundane routines we do daily and just don't know the worthiness of such routines.

River deep,mountain high

Sometimes life brought me hapiness
that leaded me to the highest mountain
Sometimes life brought me sorrow
that leaded me to the lowest valley
A wall was build up for protection
but also shut everybody out for a long time
Than there was brokeback mountain
that gave me a way out
It touched me in the deepest parts
of my heart and soul
Made me look at myself with other eyes
Realizing it`s time
Time to take the opportunity
to break with old habbits
And so i`m gonna step on that road
Will try to let the wall come down
and lead me to my new self.

Love it Conny!   And I love the picture that went with it.

I may have to steal that idea (such a gentleman) and add them to my poems.
