Any LA fires last night?
In 2010, 606 people (all ages) were accidentally killed by guns.
Almost 3000 teens (15-19) die in traffic accidents a year.
1100 kids under 19 drown each year.
44 kids under 5 died of heat stroke in hot cars in 2013.
HIGH school sports account for 1.2 million trips to the ER annually.

No hopers, lol!

I still like this article:

Iowa Caucauses: A Colossal Waste of Time
By Frank Cagle
December 28, 2011

There was lots of talk in Los Angeles the week before the Rose Parade about the
Occupy Rose Parade people and what they would do there, but the Occupy people
did what they had agreed upon, marching behind the parade, as many others have done
in the past with their signs and slogans about many things, usually religious groups.  The
local station that covers the parade here usually shows this after parade throng during their
credits of the parade, but they did not do it this year and it stood out like a purposeful
decision not to.  News out here did cover it in their broadcasts though.  But it brings up
the idea of WHY protestors attempt to disupt anything a little.  It gets you attention.
Playing by the Rose Parade rules they agreed to, the Occupyers got little attention.

Any LA fires last night?

According to CBS News about an hour ago:
The dozens of arson fires in the past several days appears to have halted
since Harry Burkhart's arrest.

Good another war we cannot pay for. And to pay for this one, we'll take away your SS and your Medicare. While the 1% can sit back and make loads of money.

Can anyone tell me why anyone would think that continuing tax breaks for the richest, while reneging on them for the rest of us makes any sense to a working person?

A little more:

The man of the hour:  Shervin Lalezary
January 3/Los Angeles Times

http://latimes.com/reserve-deputy

Officer Lalezary with Los Angeles Mayor Antonnio Villaraigosa

As hundreds of law enforcement officers looked for the suspect in a string of arson fires Monday, the lawman who spotted him was a reserve deputy who works as an attorney in Beverly Hills by day and occasionally helps patrol West Hollywood at night.

"He is a true hero," says Sheriff Lee Baca of Shervin Lalezary. "He works for $1 a year."

Baca said the 30 year old reserve deputy, who only qualified in December to ride a car solo, was beyond his eight-hour shift when he made the "arrest of his career."  Lalezary spotted Harry Burkhart's Dodge Caravan with British Columbia license plates on Sunset Boulevard
[right near my friend Robert & Ken's place!] shortly before 3 a.m. and quickly realized he was the suspect at center of a massive arson taskforce manhunt. Officials had been looking for the minivan for several hours.

"It was a great relief to know people can sleep -- be they officers, firefighters, the residents of West Hollywood as well as me" said Lalezary. He said he could not discuss specifics but said that he had Los Angeles Police Department officers covering him when he approached the minivan. At a press conference Monday, Lalezary received much applause. His family was looking on.

The mayor of West Hollywood commented on his making $1 a year (how does that work
by the way?) saying he'd take him to the most expensive restaurant on the Sunset Strip.
I think I would, too.  Lyle Lalezary has a nice ring to it.  I feel safer now at night knowing
Shervin (never heard the name Shervin before!) is patrolling outside my windows at night.

By the way, if you don't "want" to get caught this arsonist wasn't being very
smart.  He had a pony tail.  License plates from Canada?  A witness to the arrest
on Sunset Blvd. said he was standing there grinning like "the Joker."  "He looked
like a villain from the Batman movies," he said!

his Mother Doreen is an amazing amazing woman, I know nothing can bring Stephen back but hopefully the family can finally have some closure

I know the case was not known in the USA but this case has been in the UK press since the day stephen was murdered, so I have grown up knowing about the case, its been a bring part of everyone in englands life.

Oh joy (not) - Rupert Murdoch is tweeting.

Apparently he likes Santorum.

from the article:

I don't know who would be interested in Rupert Murdoch's tweets, other than journalists who work for the papers he owns.   ::)

The person or the end product?

Too bad Henry Gibson is dead. He'd be a shoo-in for playing Ron Paul in any made-for-tv movies of the week.

He can still do the job.
