Thomas Earl Petty (October 20, 1950 – October 2, 2017) was an American musician, singer, songwriter, multi instrumentalist and record producer. He was best known as the lead singer of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, but was also a member and co-founder of the late 1980s supergroup the Traveling Wilburys, and his early band Mudcrutch.

Petty recorded a number of hit singles with the Heartbreakers and as a solo artist, many of which are mainstays on adult contemporary and classic rock radio. His music has been classified as rock and roll, heartland rock, and even stoner rock. His music has become popular among younger generations.  In his career, Petty sold more than 80 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling music artists of all time.  In 2002, Petty was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Petty suffered cardiac arrest early in the morning of October 2, 2017 and died at 8:40 p.m. PDT at a hospital in Santa Monica, California.  He was 66 years old.

Still doing catch up since coming back off my long vacation.

Heard that one of my all time favorite Country singers has died.
Had the privilege of seeing him perform twice here in GB.
Will miss the soft dulcet tone of Don Williams voice singing
the lovely words of his songs. R.I.P Don.

Antoine "Fats" Domino, Jr. (February 26, 1928 – October 24, 2017) was an American pianist and singer-songwriter of Louisiana Creole descent. He had 22 records in the U.S. Billboard Top 40, and five of his pre-1955 records sold more than a million copies, being certified gold.  During 1955 to 1960, he had eleven top 10 hits and his record sales were reportedly surpassed only by Elvis Presley.  During his career, Domino sold over 65 million records.  His musical style was based on traditional rhythm and blues, accompanied by saxophones, bass, piano, electric guitar, and drums.

In 1986 he was one of the first musicians to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.  He also received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award that year.   In the 1980s, Domino decided he would no longer leave New Orleans, having a comfortable income from royalty payments and a dislike of touring and claiming he could not get any food that he liked anywhere else.  Neither the Hall of Fame induction or the invitation to perform at the White House persuaded him to make an exception to this policy.

Billboard Top 40 hits of Fats Domino:

Natural Born Lover  - #38

Red Sails in the Sunset - #35

Ain't That Just Like A Woman - #33

I've Been Around - #33

Fell In Love on Monday - #32

Malcolm Mitchell Young was an Australian musician and songwriter, best known as a co-founder, rhythm guitarist, backing vocalist and songwriter for the hard rock band AC/DC. Except for a brief absence in 1988, he was with the band from its November 1973 beginning until retiring in 2014 for health reasons. Young and the other members of AC/DC were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003.

Though his younger brother Angus is the more visible of the brothers, Malcolm was described as the driving force and the leader of the band. In 2014, he stated that despite his retirement from the band, AC/DC was determined to continue making music with his blessing.  As the rhythm guitarist, he was responsible for the broad sweep of the band's sound, developing many of their guitar riffs and co-writing the band's material with Angus. He was married to Linda Young and had two children, Cara and Ross.

Young took a leave of absence from AC/DC in April 2014, to receive treatment for dementia.  In September 2014, the band's management announced that he would be retiring permanently.  He died on 18 November 2017.

AC/DC only hit the Billboard Top 40 3 times, because mainstream American radio doesn't play that type of music.   However, they hit the Mainstream Rock chart numerous times:

David Bruce Cassidy (April 12, 1950 – November 21, 2017) was an American actor, singer, songwriter, and guitarist. He was known for his role as Keith Partridge, the son of Shirley Partridge (played by his stepmother Shirley Jones), in the 1970s musical-sitcom The Partridge Family, which led to his becoming one of popular culture's teen idols and pop singers of the 1970s. He later had a career in both acting and music.

Gustavo Morales Battaglini -- does that name ring a bell?

Until two days ago, it didn’t with me either (pardon my assumption). But I found it on youtube as I was surfing Easy Listening music, and for an old-timer like me, it was a revelation.

How about Bert Kaempfert, Ray Coniff, 101 Strings, Frank Pourcel, Keely Smith, Percy Faith, Patti Page, Bobby Hackett, Rosemary Clooney, Frank Chacksfield, Sergio Mendes,  Billy Eckstine, Morton Gould, Norman Luboff Choir, Stanley Black,  Count Basie, Jackie Gleason…

…the list could go on, but I think you probably get the point. Mr. Battaglini has put together an amazing collection of 50s, 60s and 70s albums of performers and performances, American, British, and many others. They are all on his youtube videos list at

https://www.youtube.com/user/gmoralesmx2/videos

You can start them playing and they go on forever. The fidelity is superb. If this is your music, here is your Christmas present from Mr. Battaglini. Enjoy!

And why are we shown this trivial detail? Because that truck carries the most important cargo of our puny lives:  love and hope.
