Another analysis, guys! It's an oldie, written on October 12, 2014. I can't really remember if I've read it before, so... just in case. I may have posted this link before - or not.

The writer is convinced Anthony is the real person and Adam is his subconscious creation - that's contrary to what most people think, so it makes for interesting reading.

What's great is that people are still commenting on this - over a year later!  :)

Yes! Yes!!! YES!!!  *jumps around*

"Cinematic magic often occurs when an actor and director find their careers entwined and they're able to bring out the best in each other. Film history has been littered with Directors and their muses; Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe, John Ford and John Wayne, Hitchcock had many, Woody Allen had his, too. Now it seems Denis Villeneuve and Jake Gyllenhaal are joining those ranks with their recently announced third collaboration The Son, based on the Jo Nesbo book."

[...]

"While Prisoners was more palatable to audiences, Enemy felt far more like the unique stamp of an auteur and muse project. This brain bender offers the only thing better than Jake Gyllenhaal starring in a movie: two Jake Gyllenhaals starring in a movie. The puzzle of a man meeting his exact double is gripping, thought provoking, and one of the most underappreciated films of the last few years. The curious spider motif that recurrs throughout Enemy is an appropriate metaphor for the delicate web that Villeneuve and Gyllenhaal spin together." ( ;D )

Super! ;D One thing about being "underappreciated" at the time is that eventually the film becomes recognised as excellent. I mean, Donnie Darko didn't do well at first and now it's an acknowledged classic and still being shown to new audiences. The seventeen year old daughter of a friend just discovered it and is raving about it.  ;)

Early on in this thread (in 2014 or so), I already predicted that 'Enemy' would become a classic in years to come. I'd love to be right on this one!  ;)

A new generation!   Jake will be proud!

Re-watched 'Enemy' a couple of days ago. Hadn't seen it in a while. And afterwards, as I always do, searched for (recent) online comments on IMDb's message board, just to see if it's still "alive" there. Being one giant question mark in itself, 'Enemy' still gets plenty of discussion, which is great.

Also found this discussion on 'Demolition':

-  "In your opinion is this movie better than Enemy? Cheers."

     - "Enemy is a masterpiece. Demolition is just a good movie."

     - "Both incredible films, but Enemy is one of the all time greats."

     - "It's another great acting performance from Jake and a good cast, but it's nowhere near as good as Enemy."

... and so on. It's fab to see 'Enemy' getting more and more appreciated as time goes by.

Recently found out that Mélanie Laurent (who plays Mary) has directed a movie in 2014, called 'Respire' (Breathe). I quite like French movies generally, so I'll try to get hold of it and see what it's like.

You didn't like it? It's creepy, that's for sure! Jake was unrecognizable - and great.
