Thanks Sonja. There are some interesting and revealing comments about how, on the surface Demolition looks like a "quirky sad guy comedy" but underneath it's something very different, more complex and edgy. And there are lots of favourable comments about the type of films Jake's choosing, which link in with his own comments on exploring the darker side of his persona through his roles.

As someone wrote "He could be trapped in Romcoms instead."

That would be an absolute disaster!

This one?  "Each new movie Gyllenhaal is in, he makes it easier for me to admit that out of all current generation of actors, I consider him to be just as interesting and good as Deniro was in his prime. I honestly thought like others here that this movie would turn out to be a bland affair, but it seems there's a whole lot going beneath the surface. I'm definitely interested."

De Niro? Whoa!  ;D

Yes, it would! I'm glad he has chosen his own path in recent years. It may be "dark" sometimes, but it suits him beter than the usual Hollywood blockbusters.

Lots of interviews online already for 'Demolition', too many to post here, and they're not all equally interesting - lots of the same questions  ::)

This one's nice. She asks Jake about the dancing.

Also found this one. It was filmed last year by the looks of it. Jake looks a bit well... worried   And that shirt...

I think he is a sleeper.  He’s taking his time, living his life, picking and choosing roles that challenge him both mentally/emotionally and physically.  One day a role will come along that will make him, to outsiders, an “overnight success”, and a superstar...as we have known all along...

That's an inexplicable shirt. It looks like a strangulation device or some sort of weird homespun thing.  :o

I think if any list were made of the top 10 actors under 40 ish, I would think Jake would make the list.  And I don't think that is biased.

Based on  critical acclaim and box office success, actors that we may still be talking about it 40 years.....

Having said that the first list I looked at he wasn't on!   And yet I couldn't disagree with anyone that was on the list.

I mean you think Jake, Leo, Ryan Gosling, Ryan Reynolds, Eddie, Shia, James Franco, Joaquin, Christian Bale, although he is over 40 now I guess..

And Heath, you know he would have made that list/any list!

There are those who look at things the way they are, and ask why... I dream of things that never were, and ask why not?

Jake Gyllenhaal doesn't do a lot of big-budget blockbuster films.  He seems to prefer starring in more low budget films.  I can understand why, because sometimes they tend to be of higher quality.  I think that Jake is overlooked when people talk about  talented actors. He is a true gem of an actor and a human being.
