I've seen pics of the event, but since I'm not in Toronto, I haven't seen the film.

^^^^

That's not quite what I meant...  ;D

OK. As always when a new film premieres, the attention is overwhelming. Lots of press, interviews and reviews - most available online. And, as so often in recent years, there's award buzz for Jake - FWIW  :-X  I had hoped to find some of that in this thread by now, as Jake's movie threads are far too quiet these days. But...  :'(

I just don't have the time to "research" things like I used to in Jake's threads, which will make them even more quiet, I guess. I'm so sorry about that.

Ah, ok!  I misunderstood what you meant.

To be honest, I haven't seen/heard anything about Stronger here.  Not sure why, it's the type of movie that usually gets a lot of attention.  A "true to life" story.

I did see this morning, however, that Jake won the Golden Icon award in Zurich.

Jake is going to be on TV tonight with Jimmy Fallon, I'm sure they'll be discussing "Stronger".

Jake Gyllenhaal Celebrates the New York Premiere of Stronger

by MICHAELA BECHLER

There wasn’t a dry eye in Walter Reade Theater last night at the New York premiere of Stronger, the inspiring true story of Boston Marathon bombing survivor Jeff Bauman, portrayed by Jake Gyllenhaal. The Roadside Attractions film, codistributed with Lionsgate, also stars Orphan Black actress Tatiana Maslany as Bauman’s then-girlfriend, Erin Hurley.

Bauman was waiting for Hurley, who was running in the 2013 marathon, at the finish line just steps away from where the blast occurred and lost both his legs in the attack. Bauman helped law enforcement identify one of the bombers, becoming not only a survivor but a hero, a title he wasn’t comfortable with at the start of his recovery.

Calvin Klein exclusively sponsored the evening, which started with Gyllenhaal, Bauman, Maslany, and director David Gordon Green walking the red carpet. Green said this film was an incredible education for him, both technically and emotionally.

“You’re [on set] trying to illustrate and access truths and bring an authenticity to your story,” Green said. “We took it very seriously and wanted to get to the raw nature of these characters. There is humor in the film, but first and foremost we just wanted to honor the subjects.”

In the new movie "Stronger," actor Jake Gyllenhaal plays Jeff Bauman, who lost both legs in the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing. Jake has been all over TV last week. He was on a couple of the Late Night Shows, like Jimmy Fallon for one and also he appeared on ELLEN with Jeff Bauman. BAFTA had a screening of the film in Los Angeles yesterday and Jake was there for a Q&A.

It's showing here now, in a small theater and only ONE time slot......I looked at the BO numbers nationwide and it's got a long way to go to make back the 30mil it cost to make it..........wonder why? I thought most of the reviews were good, no? All the reviews I read were praising the film. Maybe critical praise doesn't always translate to good BO results?

Two reasons maybe. Firstly it's up against "Blade Runner 2049" and secondly after Las Vegas nobody's in the mood for more horror and suffering. It looks like unfortunate timing.
