Holy smoke! Nats 25, Mets 4!

Werd ich zum Augenblicke sagen, "Verweile doch! Du bist so schön..."

I noticed that, Fritz, what's up with that!

Nationals Score 25 in Mets' Worst Loss in Team History
Daniel Murphy hit two home runs to key the highest-scoring game ever for the Nationals,
who pounded out 26 hits and won 25-4 Tuesday night in the most lopsided defeat in Mets
history. The Nationals climbed back to .500 by hitting over .500. In their 25-4 shellacking
of the Mets, they went 26-for-50 (.520).

I have to say, Jonn, that two former Kansas City Royals players, Mike Moustakas and specifically Lorenzo Cain, both
now with the 1st Place, as of tonight, Milwaukee Brewers, are mostly responsible for the Dodger loss tonight. We went
from first to third in one day. (However MLB figures winning percentage, we are .001 behind Colorado, even though we
have won one more game than they have and our run differential is 92 more than theirs.) Whatever.   ???

The NL West has been close all year, but the other NL Divisions are tightening the noose, too.

EAST
Phillies        -
Braves      0.5
Nationals  5.5

CENTRAL
Cubs          -
Brewers     -
Pirates       6

Even in the American League the Astros are watching Seattle
creep back up toward them with the Athletics right behind.

AL WEST
Astros        -
Mariners    3
Athletics    5

...and Seattle is playing Houston there tonight and the game is tied at the moment.

Tonight I was listening to the game on the radio and in the 2nd inning our newly acquired 2nd baseman Brian Dozier
from the Minnesota Twins who we got to help us out and do better, made a throwing error that cost us a run. In the 3rd
inning our pitcher threw a wild pitch that cost us a run. It was like we were giving the game away. But we battled back and
it was tied 4 - 4 in the 9th and into extra innings.

It turns out Dodger Dozier redeemed himself after his error, hitting a double, a triple and a home run. In the bottom of the
10th Dodger Grandal hit a home run with Kemp on base and we had a walk-off win 6 - 4.  Whew!

Dodgers 21 - Brewers 5

We didn't hit 25, Fritz, but the Dodgers finally exploded last night against a team, the Milwaukee Brewers, whom we've been very evenly matched with
in our 7 games together. Both won and lost 3 each.

21 runs is the most any team has scored in a game at Dodger Stadium in its history.
12 Dodgers got at least 1 hit, 18 altogether. Even the pitcher got a hit. And our new
Dodger Dozier got a second home run in his second game.

I hope we don't need any of those runs this weekend as it is the return of the Houston Astros tonight
for three games here. It's obviously going to bring back World Series thoughts for both teams and
their fans. It would be so satisfying to sweep all three games.  Go BLUE !

Well, they weren't going to get to 1st place with KC this year, for sure. KC has shed a LOT of it's WS team now. Cain
is a phenomenal player, IMHO, you understand!! Just LOVE watching him play, same with Eric Hosmer, love seeing him, plus Eric was the designated player/spokesman for the KC team, just a very articulate young man and very poised, intelligent, and course, EASY ON THE EYES as well.... ;D ;D ;D ;D

World Series Flashbacks in Dodger Stadium last night. The Astros came to town.
I'm sure Dodger fans wanted to pummel them with a score like we had last night
when we got 21 runs. The score ended up 2 - 1, which would have been great if
we were the "2", but we were the "1".

The only run for the Dodgers happened in the 1st inning from a home run by Joc Pederson.

The runs for the Astros came in the second inning. The first run was gained by an Astro hitting
a double and the run scored. The whole nasty thing about this game is that the second run scored
because of an error by center fielder Cody Bellinger. Cody hit a grand slam Thursday night. Friday
night the Astros basically won because of him as there were no more runs for either team the entire
night. Justin Verlander, who makes his home in Los Angeles is a great pitcher, no argument with
that. But our pitcher Alex Wood matched him inning for inning.

No one should really let a sports teams success or failure influence their day, but I have lately. And
I'm often very frustrated. It makes no sense really, but we try to have these vicarious experiences
of victory when our own days are lacking it.

But why did a Dodger error have to be the (or "a") reason they won? In these situations I often think
of Vin Scully's quote:
