Fritz, yes, as you said, I was happy for my Dodger boys to have two wins in one day!
Especially since we have not done at all well against Arizona and then the Nationals
just swept the D'Backs. Maybe the rainy weather and delays brought back bad thoughts
for DC from last years play-offs when bad weather was happening there. Speaking of the
weather, is it really going to be 84° there today?

That gato grande sandwich you had yesterday sounds delicious!  I've never heard of that,
but doesn't it mean big cat?

I do root for the Nationals in your division, except when, well you know...
But I just cannot call them the Nats. I have to say Nationals or DC.

Jonn and Fritz are KC/DC.

The team was referred to locally as the Nats even back when they were the Senators.

I can remember that in the local papers.

The first major league game I ever saw was in 1964 at then new DC Stadium, watching the Senators play the Twins, which were once the Senators before they moved to Minnesota. We were 17 busloads of teenagers from Louisiana heading up to see the World's Fair in NYC, then on to a church youth group convention at Notre Dame, the first time I saw that campus and was immediately smitten.

The first minor league game I ever saw was sometime in the 50's, watching the New Orleans Pelicans play the Chattanooga Lookouts in the old Southern Association. Saw that one along with our Cub Scout pack.

It's supposed to reach 85° today, and it's already sunny, warm and humid.

^^^

The Dodgers should feel at home, then!    ;D

Although we've been having lovely mild and overcast days this weekend.
A lovely 64° right now!

But I wonder why it's called that if it's a chicken sandwich?

Probably because of the name of the restaurant. Most of the meals have names derived from cats.

What a trip, Fritz!  Visits to DC and a ball game!  The NY World's Fair and Notre Dame, too!

I love those baseball team names--like the Chattanooga Lookouts.  I've been re-watching the Ken Burns
documentary series Baseball again and they have segments where many of those minor league team
names are mentioned and some are quite amusing.

A rather current minor league team name I find fascinating is the Albuquerque Isotopes!
They were founded in 2003 and the origin of the name came from The Simpsons, where
an episode featured the Springfield Isotopes.

Where I grew up the closest minor league team was the Utica Blue Sox. I always thought
an MLB team should be named that because then you'd have the Red, White & Blue Sox!

I thought the Dodgers - Nationals game was on at 1:30 today. Well, it was on the East coast,
so I missed it. All the websites with MLB info all have Eastern times. I forgot about that.

Sorry Fritz!  You have San Diego next and then Miami, so hopefully you can do some good with those teams!

Jonn is probably shouting "Damn Yankees" now.

We're back home to play San Diego tomorrow and then the Rockies. We play the Rockies 6 times in the next 10 days.
In between we play the Rockys.  I mean Phillies.  ;D
