Hi, Jonn, what will you be doing in Carlsbad?  Are you going to Legoland?
That's about 2 hours away, depending, as you say, on "that traffic!"

The Nationals have won 5 games in a row! All the top three in that division won last night,
which means the Dodgers lost. I was worried because Jake Arietta was pitching for the Phillies.
I hadn't known he left the Cubs to go there. Free agency. The players do go where the money
is, don't they? I just wish the money they get was based on performance with the team they
sign with. Less money if you don't perform. I don't know how many times the Dodgers have
signed people over the years for huge sums of money and these people stink while they're
here, or they get injured and while injured still get all that money. Plus free health care. Our
shortstop, Corey Seagar, is out for the whole season because he needs surgery on his elbow.
MLB contracts are guaranteed. MLB players receive their full contract even if they never throw
a pitch or swing a bat.

Good news for all of us. Our teams all won!

Better news for the Nationals: They've won 6 in a row and are in first place today!
But you now are playing the Braves whom you just passed for 1st place, so good luck!

Dodgers beat Philadelphia quite handily last night. Good for us!
We've just had another pitcher put on the disabled list, though.
If our luck would change...the only good luck we've had is that
the reason of the division is all weird, too, so far.

2 in a row for the Royals!

I've mentioned recently that most anything that can go wrong for the DOdgers this year,
has gone wrong, but tonight takes the prize.

A Philly player came to home plate in the top of the second inning,
while our catcher had a little problem corraling the ball thrown to
him from outfielder Cody Bellinger. Our catcher asked the home
plate umpire if the Philly player had touched the plate. The umpire
said he did.

Obviously, as you can see, he DID NOT! And not by a little. By a lot.

As the Dodger TV announcer was asking on air, "Why is he safe when he didn't touch home plate?"
the Dodger team's video crew, nor other personnel on the field or in the dugout, who should have
noticed the miss and told Roberts (Dodger manager) to appeal before the next pitch, obviously failed.

So, bad call #1 on the umpire. Bad call #2 on the Dodgers. This is really unacceptable.

The Dodgers lost 2-1.

Nationals back to second place tonight.

To make matters worse, the Dodgers, if they'd won the game tonight instead of handing over the winning run
to Philly, could've been two games behind, but because San Francisco won, we are now 4 behind.  Maddening.

Was following the Nationals - Braves game at 3-3 into extra innings.
Nationals breaking through in the top of 14th (!) with 2 runs and
winning 5-3! Yay! Nothing like playing an extra five innings! I've
never liked the Braves for dozens of reasons going back years and
years and haven't warmed up to them any the last few years.

Congratulations Jonn!

Fox's Game of the Week yesterday was the Dodgers at the Rockies. Games in Colorado are
often really high scoring and if you're ahead by even 4-5 runs you can't be sure the other
team won't make it up. So after we got 2 runs early the Rockies came back and got 4 right
away. It took us awhile to tie the game, but then we kept at it, to my relief and ended up
winning 12-4!  Since the Rockies are in 1st place right now, we've come from being 6 behind
and in 4th place two weeks ago to only 2 behind today! Our best showing all season so far.
Hopefully we're on the right track, BUT... the biggest problem is that 4 of our 5 starting
pitchers are on the disabled list.  Ryu, Maeda, Hill and Kershaw, who was out for a long
time, came back last Thursday and the next day was back on the disabled list. These boys
need to get it together!
