My name is Sue.....and I need to lose some weight.
My worst times are late at night. I have problems sleeping.
I either come here on line.....or sit reading with a mug of hot chocolate
and a handdul of biscuits/cookies.
Need help.....fast.

cif most of your diet is healthy, and it's just nighttime eating, try a flavored decaffinated tea so it won't affect your sleep even more.  Hot chocolate doesn't have as much caffeine as coffee, but it's high in sugar, which can also keep you awake - although they do make sugar free mix, as well.

plan ahead for snacks that can be made with less or no sugar & butter...there are tons of recipes for cookies and other sweets that replace sugar and butter with unsweetened applesauce.

"Emily Bites" is a good site, she calls her recipes "lightened up comfort food".

"Can you stay for dinner" is a blog by a young woman who lost 135 pounds.  She has recipes as well, her story is on the site and she has a book out on Amazon.

bottom line: it ain't easy!  but it's easier than it was years ago...

If a man should importune me to give a reason why I loved him, I find it could no otherwise be expressed, than by making answer: because it was he, because it was I.

About a month ago I quit everything sugar. Haven't weighed myself since then, so I don't know if I've lost any weight at all, but avoiding sugar is healthy anyway.

The strange thing about it is, that I hardly ever have any cravings for sweet things. And I used to eat a lot of sweet stuff!

I'm just glad it works so far.

So I don't bring a small bar of chocolate?

wow! did you quit bread and pasta and potatoes too?

don't the simple starches turn to sugar anyway?

i hardly ever crave sweets, and i quit drinking soda about 35 years ago...

but i DO enjoy a good root beer float... maybe once or twice a year.  ;D

Well, I don't eat a lot of bread or pasta or potatoes anyway, so no need to quit them entirely.

But alas, my no-sugar-period didn't last.... :(

OMG, I love walnut baklava!!!!!!!

The best I've ever had was home made - less sweet and more walnuts!

oooh that sounds good, sonja.. yes, the baklava i had was super sweet... honey laden to the extreme.

i love almond and pistachio baklava too.... i miss living near glendale CA with their huge armenian population. they had the most amazing baklava shops! such a variety.

In the land of baklava I won't be holding back... That wasn't meant to be a pun, btw :).  Spose this shouldn't be on the diets thread though!
