Oh wow!  How horrible and sad.

Jules, thanks for letting us know.  Thoughts and prayers to her family.

Mardu's name was Marzena. She was a lovely young girl, full of life and hope for the future. Known as mermon7 on Twitter, very active on all blogs dedicated to Jake, she died last week for reasons still unknown. Her young daughter got in touch with a few of us and told us about the tragedy that hit her family.

She will be missed.

Oh, my!  So young, and also so new to our forum.

That really is sad and shocking.  She will be missed.

Have only just checked in on this thread after a while .....so it's  sad to hear that one of "our" family has died.
Though she was only a member of the Forum for a short while..... we still grieve her passing.
RIP Mardu.

I will be participating in the Walk for ALS (Scarborough) on Sunday June 22, 2014. This is a new event this year and comes three weeks after the Walk for ALS (Toronto).

My cousin Lisa will be participating in the Tri-Cities Ridge Meadows WALK for ALS in Port Coquitlam, B.C. on Sunday June 8th , 2014. Her mother (my aunt) passed away from ALS last fall.

Many thanks to the BBM forum members who sponsored me when I did an ALS fundraising walk last October!

Hi y'all,
Newbie here after....how long has this forum been around??   :D

I live in NC (Tar Heel to my core, and we just became a marriage-equality state - WOOT! About freaking time!!!!)  with my hubby and two kids. Back in school to be a nurse practitioner because after 13 years I finally figured out what I want to be when I grow up.

Just became a Brokie after watching this phenomenal movie for the first time last week (and three more times since) and reading the SS twice.

When I am not ruminating over Brokeback (or Jake and Heath), I'm also into JRR Tolkien, crossword puzzles, classic rock, and learning how to cook with something besides a can opener.

This movie has sucker-punched me like no other movie I can recall. Beautiful, heart-wrenching, sweet, tragic.....I can't stop thinking about it!

Ennis put his arm around Jack, pulled him close....

Hi ElvishGeek!

Welcome to the forum. We opened our doors here a few days before Christmas, 2005, after BBM had hit the film festivals and had limited openings in NYC, LA, and SF.  Coming up on our 9th anniversary!!
I have been here since the Dec. 26, 2005.

I am so glad you found us and know that you are not alone in your obsession!!

Welcome! It's heart-warming to know that the film can still have the sucker-punch. We all recognise the symptoms!

How true!  We may not have the same reactions now, but we can remember them very well.

Yes, we do!  :)

Hi ElvishGeek! Welcome to the forum! It's always fun to see new names here.

My name is Sonja, I'm from The Netherlands and I've been a Brokie for 'only' two and a half years now - so you're not the only one who's late to the party  ;)

[...] and learning how to cook with something besides a can opener.

:D  :D  You know, when I first joined the forum, I seriously considered "Jack's can opener" as my forum name...  ::)
