I have the full soundtrack on the hard drive of my computer so if anyone wants a copy... :)

I must have another listen. Thanks to you, Andy - how long ago that seems now... :)

The musical score and soundtrack to "Brokeback Mountain" (2005) just enhance the film.  I don't really care for country music, but the songs that play during the film are very good.  I think that the Oscar that the film's musical score won was definitely deserved.  A film's musical score can add so much to the emotional experience of the film, the musical score and soundtrack to "Brokeback Mountain" is certainly no exception.

I don't know what made me think of this tonight, but I suddenly had a memory of a commercial that ran 2019.

It was called "The Road Trip" and it was for the Mayo Clinic.  The full 3 minute commercial feature a father and son as they are on a trip.  They end up at the mayo clinic, and the assumption is that the son has cancer, and the father took him to the clinic for treatment.

Remembering the music, I felt like it was very "Brokeback-like", so I searched for the commercial, and found the full ad on YouTube.

Turns out the composer is Gustavo.

I thought so too.  I'm not sure how I missed that the first time I heard the music.

Hello! Sharing this Spotify playlist I made with songs from the soundtrack, those in the movie but not in the soundtrack (thanks wikipedia!) and songs that have a very Brokeback / J+E feel. Credits to another forum I'm part of for some of the tracks on here.

I wish I could get the other Gustavo Santaolalla tracks though! They're not on Spotify. :c

That Willie Nelson song in BBM absolutely affected me, still does! Speaks volumes about this film! IMHO, you understand?  ;)

All of the music touched me (except one song) and that extends to the music that came out that was inspired by BBM, the "Meet Me On The Mountain" CD.

Great article on Gustavo Santaolalla compositions for "The Last of Us" and his Emmy nomination.

-> https://www.independent.co.uk/news/ap-los-angeles-emmy-hbo-bill-b2400822.html

As soon as I heard the music in that LoS episode, my mind immediately raced back to BBM even before I confirmed it was Santaolalla's work.  To my ears, there many parallels in the 3rd Episode with "Bill and Frank" and BBM's now familiar twangs, pauses and notes.

"Santaolalla’s Emmy nomination is for the third episode where the show expanded on the relationship between two characters named Bill and Frank — portrayed by Nick Offerman and Murray Bartlett. Bill’s sexual orientation was only implied in the original video game, without much explanation about his partnership with Frank. In the series, Mazin and Druckmann create a romantic backstory for the two characters, creating one of the series' most talked about tearjerker episodes.

“I knew the impact that that episode had in the audience,” said Santaolalla. “I was surprised (about the nomination), but at the same time, it was something that I got the feeling that it could happen,” he said. “I’m so grateful.”"
