Can't honestly say I like him as an actor.

Not my idea of a heart throb either, especially when he went for the androgynous look.

Well, he doesn't have to worry about that playing Bob Dylan.

--SATURDAY NIGHT

Set in 1975, its plot chronicles the events in the 90 minutes leading up to the premiere telecast of NBC's Saturday Night, later known as Saturday Night Live. Saturday Night is scheduled to be released on October 11, 2024.

Saturday Night was the original title of the show during its first season because there was already a competing show at the time on ABC called Saturday Night Live with Howard Cosell. When that show was canceled they used the name they originally wanted.

The movie was given the release date of October 11, 2024, 49 years to the day that SNL premiered on NBC.

Most of the actors in this film are people I'm not familiar with. The ones I am familiar with are:

Gabriel LaBelle as Lorne Michaels
(He was the lead in Spielberg's The Fabelmans film.)
Willem Dafoe as David Tebet
J. K. Simmons as Milton Berle
Jon Batiste as Billy Preston

"A Quiet Place Day One", 2024

Pretty good! Though I must confess my concern was mostly for the cat!  :-X

Twisters, 2024

Good disaster movie, as expected. Since it was already mentioned, I just want to say that, although the effects etc are updated, I didn't think it was better than the original. If anything, I'd say it's a remake.

Anybody know anything about the new Superman movie?

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5950044/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0_tt_8_nm_0_in_0_q_Superman

It appears to me that David Corenswet (new to me) has the look for the part.

Apparently Will Reeve (son of Christopher) has a bit part as a reporter.

^^^

First I've heard of it, but I know David Corenswet was in that Hollywood mini-series that Ryan Murphy did in 2020.

This isn't going to be ready for something like 2-3 years, but the casting was announced a couple days ago. Had you heard about Sam Mendes' project to make 4 separate Beatles films, one about each Beatle? I did a year ago at least. And they'd all be released at the same time?

Joseph Quinn as George Harrison
Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney (PM as PM!)
Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr
Harris Dickinson as John Lennon

I had to look up Quinn and Dickinson. I've actually seen Dickinson in 4 films: Beach Rats, Where the Crawdads Sing, Triangle of Sadness, Blitz. Quinn I've only seen that I know of in A Quiet Place: Day One.

I just hope this isn't an incessant news story continuously every step of the way. That would be really annoying!

When I heard that the Beatles had been cast, that was the first I'd heard of the project at all.

There's a few movies coming out I want to see in a theater:

--Blue Moon
Directed by Richard Linklater | Starring Ethan Hawke, Andrew Scott, Margaret Qualley, Bobby Cannavale
October 17, 2025 (It was to come out in May, but I'm thinking they might be positioning it for award attention.)
The film is a biopic of songwriter Lorenz Hart. The story is set largely on March 31, 1943, the opening night of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma!, with Rodgers' former creative partner Lorenz Hart struggling with alcoholism and depression. The film had its world premiere at the main competition of the 75th Berlin International Film Festival, on February 18, 2025, where it won the Silver Bear for Best Supporting Performance for Andrew Scott.

--Kiss of the Spider Woman
Directed by Bill Condon, who also wrote the screenplay, based on the musical. | Starring Jennifer Lopez, Diego Luna
October 17, 2025

--Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale
September 20, 2025
