Hi all,

What an awful two days. I can only console myself with the thought that Heath was there to meet Jackie, and now
they're sitting there talking and laughing, and watching over all of us.

And Nellie, when you do find out about the ceremony with the ashes, do let us know. Heidi and I would love to be there for
our girlfriend Jackie.

And he will make the face of heaven so fine

Melissa is really finding it hard at the moment to find the words to express how she feels... She gave me permission to post what she wrote in her Live Journal

For My Mama: Please rest happily and in peace.

I have no words, only that I thought we had more time.

I will never forget you, Mama, never.

The world was lucky to have you if only for too short a period of time.

All my love.

Your Daughter,

Melissa

The winter here’s cold, and bitter
It’s chilled us to the bone
We haven’t seen the sun for weeks
To long too far from home
I feel just like I’m sinking
And I claw for solid ground
I’m pulled down by the undertow
I never thought I could feel so low
Oh darkness I feel like letting go
If all of the strength and all of the courage
Come and lift me from this place
I know I could love you much better than this
Full of grace
Full of grace
My love
So it’s better this way, I said
Having seen this place before
Where everything we said and did
Hurts us all the more
Its just that we stayed, too long
In the same old sickly skin
I’m pulled down by the undertow
I never thought I could feel so low
Oh darkness I feel like letting go
If all of the strength
And all of the courage
Come and lift me from this place
I know I could love you much better than this
Full of grace
Full of grace
My love

Bless you Jackie....such a special, special lady...
East to the mountain, west to the Pacific; Pacific Union, we catch the westbound on the fly and hold on, long as we can ride it; and I will ride that westbound train with you, till the journey is done.  B73

The reason that brought me back to brokeback forum is too strong actually.
Not only was the shock about Heath's death, but the news that Jackie was dying.
I got a p.m. this morning from a friend who informed about that...

So 2 deaths relating brokeback in just 24hrs...

I never had direct contact with Jackie, but for the short period i was posting on the "affected me" thread, i remember that she was such an optimistic and positive person. She must be happy to be meeting Heath up there...

My condolences to her family.

an end to the tears
and the in-between years
and the troubles i've seen
now that i'm clean
you know what i mean
i've broken my fall
put an end to it all
i've changed my routine
now i'm clean..."

I'm so sorry to hear about Jackie. It's a testament to how wonderful a person she was that even as a rare visitor I remember her warm and friendly posts – she sounds very special.

I do so admire the community on these boards and how deeply its members treasure each other - especially just now.

I heard about this yesterday, when I came on to join you all in mourning Heath's death, but didn't get a chance to post in this thread until now. I am so, so terribly sorry to hear this news. I don't think she and I talked very much, but I've seen so many pictures in the forum get-togethers threads that I recognize her by face, and she seemed like a really sweet and loving person. It is really a sad thing to have lost her.

I hope you are all hanging in there during this painful time.

I think this may have been Jackie's first Brokeback gathering...

to my knowledge it was (and sorry if that has already been confirmed... i'm still back here on page 30)
I was there! I have the scarf on and was thinking about this very picture... THANK YOU for posting...

I was nervous about seeing the movie again and nervous about meeting everyone from the internet, something I had never done till this site. Jackie was the first person I saw waiting around the movie theatre and I just knew she was from the forum and I felt so very welcomed and at ease.  I am soooo very grateful I threw caution to the wind that day!
I miss you Jackie!

I have posted this in the Music thread, and I would like to share it here, with you

"My last contribution for today:

When You Wish Upon A Star by Cliff Edwards
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-GtMDLlGRI

Why this particular song?
It's from the Disney film Pinocchio (1940), sung by the character Jiminy Cricket, who acts as Pinocchio's conscience, in good and bad times.
Jackie once said to me, consider me your Jiminy Cricket, imagine me sitting on your shoulder, always there to stand by you.
She used to sing it to me, to comfort me.
It is our song.

Peace, my angel :-*"

Yes, this picture was the first time we all got together in Tysons. Earl took the picture. The first time I met Jackie, thank God, not the last time, but never enough times to get to see her.  :'(

I know that this is a really stupid question. Please forgive me.

Which Brokeback? The one in Wyoming, or the one where they filmed the movie?

THANK YOU for asking!!!  I was wondering the same thing!  ;)
I miss you Jackie!

I have got to go to bed now, not having slept many hours the past 48hours like many of us... my last post for today will quote one of our Jackie's very first posts almost exactly two years ago...:

on: January 18, 2006, 05:20:03 PM Jackie wrote:
"Hi...I decided to come out of lurkedom and register after reading the post from "killersmom".  Like her, I've read posts on this site since discovering it last fall through googling "Brokeback Mountain" and, like her, felt that I didn't have anything constructive to add.  But she is right.  Just being able to say to the world...or, at least, the important part of it that takes part in these blogs...just how important this book and movie are to me is so...freeing!  I'm a grandmother.  I have a brother and many friends who are gay, and many people in my life who just don't understand what it is about this movie that touches my heart.  It seems to me that most people want only escape from reality when they read or go to movies.  Me, too, sometimes.  But I've also looked for themes that reach my soul, that connect to the part of me that longs, that dreams, that hopes, that feels.  Brokeback Mountain answers questions for me:  sometimes loving is worth the pain..."better to have loved and lost...";  finding the one person who loves you truly is always worthwhile;  settling for less can be soul-killing.

Thank you to everyone who posts here.  Your insights...about the story...about yourselves...makes it easier for me.  I don't know if I'll post much but wanted all of you to know that I am here...and am always grateful, especially to you, Dave, for putting all of this into motion."

:'( :-* r.i.p. dear Jackie... and thankyou for each and everyone of your 26000+ posts  :-* :'(

Thanks for posting this. I got such a kick out of her comment that she might not post very often. LOL I'll bet that would tickle her too to remember.

Me too, I'm laughing hard right now, thru the tears.
