I heard about this on the news tonight. There is a big storm that is going to hit the Northeast coast Friday and into the weekend.

Yup, the rain is starting here now.  Tomorrow is supposed to be bad rains and wind gusts up to 50 mph.

Did everyone get stocked up for the next few days?  Keep the portable charger close by.

Please be careful driving and stay inside if you can.

'LIFE & DEATH' warning issued as nor'easter poses 'bomb cyclone' threat
Updated 10:52 AM ET, Fri March 2, 2018

(CNN)A nor'easter hammered the East Coast on Friday with a ferocious mix of howling winds, drenching rain, some snow and surging waves as it carried the threat of morphing into a "bomb cyclone."

"Take this storm seriously!" the National Weather Service in Boston warned via Twitter. "This is a LIFE & DEATH situation for those living along the coast, especially those ocean-exposed shorelines."

The blustery, wet barrage -- with about 80 million people in its path, including more than 22 million people under a coastal flood warning --was packing wind gusts exceeding 50 miles per hour and knocking out power, flooding neighborhoods and walloping homes up and down the Atlantic coast.

"We are already experiencing downed trees and limbs," Brockton, Massachusetts Mayor Bill Carpenter said mid-morning Friday on Twitter. "Be prepared for power outages, drive with care."

Wild and windy weather here, it's already gusted to 60 around here and may be up to 70 by afternoon, sustained winds 30-40, maybe getting up to 55 this afternoon.

Hoping that the power doesn't go out, but prepared if it does.

Mandatory evacuations ordered for areas of Santa Barbara County
Mark Saunders
11:42 AM, Mar 1, 2018

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KGTV) - Portions of Santa Barbara County were given mandatory evacuation orders, ahead of an approaching storm and possible mudslides.

As of 12 p.m. Thursday, individuals near the Thomas, Sherpa and Whittier fire burn areas in Goleta, Santa Barbara, Montecito, Summerland, and Carpinteria were ordered to evacuate before 6 p.m.

A flash flood watch has been issued for areas of Santa Barbara County affected by the Thomas, Whittier, and Sherpa fires starting at 9 p.m. and lasting until 9 a.m. Friday.

The storm is expected to hit the Southern California region with moderate to heavy rainfall Thursday. Rains may generate mud and debris flows.

Checking in from the Nor'Easter.

So far, so good.   Lots of  snow falling, and heavy winds, but so far, so good.

Power flickered out at work, but it came back right away.   Left work early, got my taxes done, and now I'm home for the night.

Everywhere is frozen here in UK.
Any minute now I'm expecting a skinny woman to start shrieking out:

                                      " Let it go...Let it go-oo"

Plus the fact I think I'm going snow blind !!!!!!!!!!!

Keep safe everybody.

Holy crap!  92!?!?!?!

Too soon for that!

We were hit by the Nor'easter here in NJ yesterday....snow started falling heavily yesterday at 12:30, and fell until about 9:30.  We had about 6 - 8 inches.

Temps are warmer today, and snow is melting now.  People are talking online that another Nor'easter is expected for Monday or Tuesday of next week.

We might get something out of that system coming later in the weekend.

Orange snow blankets parts of Russia

March 26, 2018
(CNN)Skiers and snowboarders were met with orange-tinted snow in Sochi, Russia, this weekend.

The usually powdery white snow turned colors due to a sandstorm that blew across the Sahara Desert in North Africa.
"We're skiing on Mars today," exclaimed one social media user as he skied down the slopes.

The sandstorm made its way through Greece up to Russia and was so big that it could actually be seen via NASA satellite imagery.
