This is beautiful, it looks like embroidered (I am not sure this is the right word)

Hi Elena! Yes that is a good word. It's lace like.

Snow, snow everywhere! You are really changing the image I had of the south of the States, Linda!

I'm glad to be able to give you an idea about our weather. New Mexico is considered to be in the Southwest.  Texas is our neighbor to the east, and Arizona to the west. Even though these states are among the southern most states of the country, we have mountains and deserts in the state. Our snow amount varies.

The deep southern states are mostly the ones that are along the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic ocean inland to a certain point. It's not a formal division among the states but this may give you a better idea.

Here is an informal map of the regions of the US.

Yes, thundersnow is a real thing.

The lighter smokey looking streaks are snow. This was taken in our neighborhood tonight.

This was taken by a neighbor yesterday morning before the storm hit.

Up to 8 inches of snow expected in next winter storm this week.

By Jeff Goldman

As rain pushes out of New Jersey later this morning, forecasters are turning their attention to another winter storm on Thursday that’s expected to drop as much as 8 inches of snow on parts of the state.

Snow will start falling in the morning on Thursday and overspread the state by afternoon. Later, snow will change to a wintry mix across most of New Jersey with parts of the Jersey Shore and South Jersey flipping to rain. Precipitation should move out by late Friday morning.

The weather service says 2 to 3 inches will pile up in South Jersey, 4 to 6 inches will drop in Central Jersey and 6 to 8 inches will accumulate in North Jersey, though Bergen, Essex and Hudson counties should remain in the 4 to 6 inch band.
