I think it was me commenting on the hand on mouth. I was actually just complaining about his face being covered, this time not by the ugly beard but by his own hand, but this article is so much fun!!  :D thanks Sienna  ;)

I stick to my opinion anyway...I don't like this poster.

It reminds me too much of "It's Complicated," a movie I thoroughly disliked (although I have liked Nancy Meyers' other films like "Something's Gotta Give").

Would Jake ever pair up romantically with another male actor on the screen again?  I don't know.  Has any other actor ever paired up for more than one gay role, other than an openly gay actor?

i can think of one guy off the bat: jake's brother in law, peter. he did kinsey and the dying gaul.

the question is, would jake ever pair up in a romantic dramatic role with an openly gay actor?  or would that be seen as detrimental to his career? i think so. it's probably something he wants to avoid, as much as BBM fans would love for him to do it again with a guy on the silver screen.

although i'm sure there are a select few that would loathe seeing jake in another gay role!!

i am still excited about seeing LOAD. i wanna see "jack and lureen" together again. :D

and yeah, the poster with the hand over his mouth is a bit strange. like his character's got secrets to keep (or tell). :P

I took it that he was dealing with taboo subjects like drugs and sex.  There was even a board game called "Taboo" and the cover had an image with someone with a hand over its mouth.

^^^

oh, definitely. the whole taboo sex thing, it makes sense. the drug that dares not speak its name. viagra... the wonder pill, used to prolong your erection, make you an animal in bed... and now, its starring role in the center of gay sex orgies when dangerously combined with meth. ::)

but it's a shame they had him cover his face somewhat.  >:(

if anything, he should be reaching across the bed to cover up anne's...  ;) :D

to answer your question again: another straight actor besides peter sarsgaard that played gay twice is heath ledger! he played gay in SWEAT early in  his career, and was also gay opposite jake in BBM. however, i don't think he was a romantic lead in SWEAT... or if they even set him up with a boyfriend at all on that TV show, and yeah, people will argue that ennis wasn't even gay in BBM. ::)

yes, i know that this is the thread about jake...  so to keep this on topic: who would i like to see opposite jake if he happens to play another gay role in a movie? george clooney would be interesting. he's still young enough to play a boy-toy. of course, jake opposite peter saarsgard would be definitely interesting, as would jake opposite matthew mccoughnahay. that would be so frickin HOT.

also, i would love to see jake in a romantic movie role opposite a black woman. like erica hubbard... that would be kinda of daring and fun.

or even someone like zoe saldana, who is dominican and puerto rican, or halle berry (hey, she could be the cougar to his pup.) :D

did i say i was looking forward to seeing LAOD?

I just read a good review of the Blu-ray/ DVD of Prince of Persia. The DVD/ Blu-ray is being released in a few days. Here's a snippet:

"Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is an inoffensive, dare I say enjoyable action romp in the vein of The Mummy. Gyllenhaal makes for a convincing action hero..." Reviewer Chris Gould

Sorry - haven't worked out how to do a link. The website is dvdactive.

" people will argue that ennis wasn't even gay in BBM. "

I know everyone can draw their own conclusions but I think the scene where Ennis' Dad takes him and his brother to see body makes me think that Ennis' father had some inkling that one of his sons may have been gay.  Why would you take your young son to see such a thing?

Hello ric

Ennis's Dad could well have had a gut feeling about his sons being gay.  I think he took his sons to see the body because of the pervasive rural homophobia of the day, and it illustrated what a failure of a father Ennis had, that he would expose his young sons to such horrors.

There are other threads on the forum that discuss these topics at length, you might find some in depth discussion on it, or want to start a new discussion. Maybe in 'The Film and Book - General Discussion.'

It is good to hear from you, I see you are a new poster like myself. I am only up to sixty something posts. And today I have been looking at a new clip of a shirtless Jake practising swordfighting to prepare for Prince of Persia!:)

In regards as to whether or not Jack & Ennis were gay, we have  a thread where this specific topic is discussed.  Please feel free to jump in and join the conversation there.

;D

New posts/opinions are always welcome.

i don't know if this has been discussed before, as it's obviously "old news" ::)

but jake made the "international best dressed list" in vanity fair magazine (sept 2010).

he made the "best dressed siblings" category, along with his sis, the incomparable miss maggie gyllenhaal!

his favorite jeans? HOYLE JACKSON.  (which makes me think of jackson hole, wyoming.) :D

snagged from wet dark and wild, with my added links and info in parentheses:

FAVORITE FASHION PURCHASE OF 2010: Salvatore Ferragamo made-to-measure three-piece suit.

FAVORITE SHOES: Billy Reid Delta work boots.

FAVORITE TAILOR: Mario’s of Beverly Hills.

FAVORITE WATCH: 1954 Rolex Submariner.

(This is the watch of all watches. I can’t tell you guys how utterly amazing this watch is. Sean Connery, James Bond himself wore this watch in “From Russia With Love” in 1954. If that doesn’t speak volumes about this watch then maybe the following will. Besides looking amazing with its black oyster pearl and chrome face, this watch is designed to perform. It will withstand temperatures below 45 degrees and can be taken underwater up to 1000 feet. This watch is true performance luxury and it one of the classics. This is an investment piece gentlemen, so cancel the family vacation (for the next two years) and start saving. It’s worth every penny.) source

STYLE ICON: Clint Eastwood.

FAVORITE CAUSE: New Eyes for the Needy.

(New Eyes for the Needy purchases new eyeglasses for poor children and adults in the United States and recycles donated glasses for distribution to indigent people in developing nations worldwide.)

This post includes pictures which provide the perfect demonstration for how to wear Hoyle Jackson Jeans. The hat is an optional extra but bonus points for the scarf. Clint Eastwood, eh? Interesting.

the smoked chocolate work boots in that link look awfully sexy.... but the hat... THE HAT!!!!!!!!!

OMG! What is up with that face??? That's the face me and my dad make when we're like eighteen kinds of pissed off. I know that's an old picture, so not indicative of now, but still - golly. I'm ready for some up to date happy faces. I hope we get some soon, besides the plastic promo face. That gets old fast, imo.  :P

I hated "It's complicated", and SGG (wasn't that the stupid Diane Keaton movie?) even more.

True bullshit, and pathetic, IMO.

Sorry - no offense intended to anyone who did like it.

I liked "Something's Gotta Give" mostly because I really liked Diane Keaton and Jack Nicholson's chemistry. So great to see two goodies but oldies who still have it in spades. SGG works imho because of the two stars; It's Complicated did not work because Meryl Streep and Baldwin had ZERO chemistry. Everytime he would touch her, she would look like her flesh was crawling. Truly awful chemistry.

let's get serious about meryl streep. she's great at playing villainous character, and that's about it. i did not see those any of those movies, and i guess that's as good as it gets. ;) jack nicholson is cool, though... i wonder if jake will get meaty roles like his as he ages and his eyebrow get more..... expressive. ::)

LOL. sorry about that jake pic, jane. but it does show off those fabulous genes jeans of his. they look like a million bucks. or at least $250, heh. if you click the wet, dark and wild link, there are more different pics of him with the same quirky jeans, hat, and scarf combo.

wow, we didn't have to wait until christmas for this gem! who's gonna shell out the clams for the blu-ray version of PoP?

http://www.bigpicturebigsound.com/Prince-of-Persia-The-Sands-of-Time-Blu-ray.shtml

here's a tidbit i thought was cool, about the SOUND:

The accompanying DTS-HD Master Audio track is a different matter, however. The big battles are resplendent in 5.1, graced with ample bass to reinforce the more significant action beats as well as the dynamic phasing of whizzing arrows in just about every direction. Surrounds are aggressive throughout, full of odd sounds and all manner of crowds, plus a sonically exceptional scene involving a master of the whip. (Indiana Jones, the gauntlet has been thrown!)

and the EXTRAS:

"The Sands of Time" CineExplore Mode
Deleted Scene - "The Banquet: Garsiv Presents Heads"
DVD of the movie with "An Unseen World: Making Prince of Persia"
Digital Copy
D-Box Motion Code
BD-Live

the DVD is available tomorrow. get yours today!  :D
