Finally saw PoP last night on Netflix.  Guess I'm the last one on the Forum to have seen it.

It was entertaining, a great family film, lots of adventure, leaping on and off bldgs., riding horses, mucho sword fights, etc..  In fact, it reminded me of early Doug Fairbanks movies and Errol FLynn in the 40s and 50s.  All that being said, I don't think it was a vehicle for Jake's acting skills.  He did bring a certain sweet charm and a body to die for to the Prince, but that was about it.  Gemma Arterton (sp?) was so wooden and odd looking - there was no chemistry between her and Jake IMO.  Alfred Molina stole every scene he was in especially the one where he kissed the ostrich and it actually purred!  A waste of Ben Kingsley's talents, but he grimaced a lot and did get second billing, and probably a big fee -- was he wearing eye makeup?

My take: take it or leave it unless you're a Jake G. fan.

If he does not force his attention on it, it might stoke the day, rewarm that old, cold time on the mountain when they owned the world and nothing seemed wrong.

Adam Levine tells Out mag that Jake is NOT gay

Adam ought to know, Linda.  He or Jake once said they've known each other since they "were in diapers." ;D

It depresses me so that Jake will never be mine romantically or otherwise but that's my problem.  But trying to talk myself into believing he's somethimg he's not willl never ever replace the truth.

Some woman will be a lucky you know what and I will probably hate her, again my problem not Jake's.  I commend Adam for his remarks about homophobia. some think he is trying to say being called gay is an insult but I disagree.  I won't go any further because Jake's private life is his own and yes that depresses me as well.

Mod reminder -

Speculation  about Jake's sexuality is against the rules here.

The applicable rule:

Our forum has  suffered considerable acrimony over one topic of discussion: Speculation about Jake's sexuality.  We have allowed well over two years to discuss this topic, so members have had a vast opportunity to make their points.

We will no longer allow speculation about Jake's sexual orientation on this forum.

Not speculating includes not making supposedly subtle jokes and hints. This means photocaps, too.

Serious discussion of heterocentricity can continue in the "Is Society . . . " thread, or you can suggest a new thread for the Gay/Bi area if there is interest.

Photos or reports about or discussions of Jake's actual life are fine. It's the speculation about hidden or alternative meanings behind what's going on that we are putting to rest. You can talk about what is there, not what we imagine might be there.

Please move on from this subject.

My apoligies to the Forum. It was just a reply to another post.

No need to apologize, suely.

When the thread is getting into an area that is against the rules, Chuck and I post reminders to get the thread back on track.

We have several threads for serious discussion of gay issues, including "Is Society as Accepting as it Claims."

That thread is here: http://www.davecullen.com/forum/index.php?topic=20110.0

No, not the last, I haven't seen it and won't.

I like Jake Gyllenhaal as an actor in certain of his pictures...ok, guess Brokeback would be the only one so far.  He is a "movie star".  I am the fickle public.  Just because he's beautiful, doesn't mean I'll  see all his movies.

I am very much looking forward to LAOD, and will be totally let down if it turns out to be a H'wood piece of shit...rom/com w/sad ending, I hope it's more than that...

But PoP.......kid stuff

The scenes in PoP , with the ostriches....... The look on Jakes face.....I really don't think it was  *all* acting. He looked terrified  :D :D

Nancy, I'm also looking forward to LAOD.  There have been too many shitty rom/coms lately in H'wood:  young woman/man meet cute fall in love, get mad, leave, come back -- you know the drill.  Maybe this will be different. I hope so for Jake and Anne's sake -- they're too good to waste on junk IMO.

The ostriches gave new meaning to the words, "big bird."  ;D

I don't think POP deserved some of the bad reviews it got from certain quarters. It was a light hearted action flick, in my opinion.  :) And I still think Jake was good in it! He certainly stepped up to the mark to do a lot of the stunts and action sequences - you see just how many he did in some of the blu-ray extras.

I enjoyed every minute of PoP. :)

Caveat:  I'm not a serious film buff, and I tend to like everything Jake does. But I thought it was a fun summer popcorn movie, and I loved Jake in it.
