I went home for lunch today, and when I got back to work a kitten ran up to me from under a car near the front door. He wasn't feral, and let me pick him up and hold him. We went for a walk back to my car where I carry dry cat food around (you never know) and he ate a little. I brought him back to a landscaped place near the entrance and put more food down; I figured if he was still there when I left I would take him home.
I went out to check on him at 1:30 and there were 3 guys out there playing with him! They had brought out some water, and one guy said his wife was coming to take the kitten to a no-kill shelter where she fosters kittens. It was so cute...we all stood around sharing cat stories! So it ended well, and I didn't have to break the news to Emmett that he had a new brother!
Then driving home at 5:30, pretty close to my house, I saw a coyote come out of the woods just as i was driving by, he was about 5 feet from me. He looked so hungry and I knew he was probably thirsty, too...it's so hot here...but no, I didn't get out and try to pet him
