All right, break out the tissues. I saw this on CBS Sunday Morning this morning, and saw the article about it. It was 4 months in the making.
Eric Whitacre is a choir director and composer. He premiered a virtual choir 10 years ago and published it on YouTube. He has done several since then. This year in March he knew that a virtual choir was needed more than anything right. He composed this song and then put the invitation out for singers. This video has 17,572 singers from 129 countries who came together via videos, to perform Eric Whitacre's "Sing Gently". It was published on YouTube 2 hours ago.
The following is the video. The song is only 3:17 long, the rest is a list of all performers, so no need to view the whole video. I am sharing this because it is so beautiful, and such a huge undertaking, and for all the choir nerds and all of you who can use something beautiful today.
"Sing Gently" by Eric Whitacre performed by 17,572 performers in 129 countries. One of the performers is deaf, and signed it in American Sign Language.
