Polling shows a majority of Americans favor preserving rights to marry whom one wishes, regardless of the person’s sex, gender, race or ethnicity...

Unfortunately, the current makeup of the Supreme Court doesn't care about majorities.

As I understand our USA legal system, some sort of (new, since the 2015 ruling) restriction on SSM only would have to be made a law somewhere in the USA (maybe as low level as a City Ordinance) and would have to go all the way thru the State and Federal court system all the way up to the Supreme Court and be upheld.

Then other SSM only restrictions/laws would likely be tried, just to see what the Supreme Court would uphold.

(maybe a lawyer here on UBF could expand on this scenario)

Congressman attends son’s same-sex wedding after voting against same-sex marriage:

Unlimited tolerance must lead to the disappearance of tolerance. If we extend unlimited tolerance even to those who are intolerant, if we are not prepared to defend a tolerant society against the onslaught of the intolerant, then the tolerant will be destroyed, and tolerance with them. - Karl R. Popper

More from the Republican party about what marriages is about (it's okay if it's violent, as long as it's heterosexual):

Tony Abbott, the Prime Minister of Australia from 2013 to 2015 opposed ssm but did attend his sister's same sex marriage after the national plebiscite voted in favour.

Like the repeal of DADT, I have to wait until it's signed, sealed and delivered!
Amazing.
