This is a waterfall that runs from near the top of the yellow building.

While we were sitting in our restaurant eating lunch, we thought the heavy rain was continuing, because the windows kept getting wet.  When I went outside, though, the rain was very light.

I can tell from this picture that most of the water hitting our restaurant window was water for the waterfall, rather than rain coming from the sky.   ::)

Tuesday, Day 4, was the rainiest day of the whole trip.  Fortunately our first stop was inside, at the Maine State Prison Store in Thomaston, ME.

Minimum security inmates are allowed to have tools for carving wood and making other crafts.  Some also work at the store, where they are supervised by a correctional officer.  The wood objects are made of cedar, and range in size from tiny sailboats up to medium size tables and cedar chests.  I didn't want to buy anything large to carry on the bus, but I did buy a carved lighthouse tower (painted white, with painted windows, and with a carved balcony which was painted black).  I also bought a small carved sailboat, which was polished rather than painted so that the grain of the cedar wood shows.  They had some much more detailed larger boats, which I admired but knew better than to think of buying.  Prices were quite reasonable.

how interesting,,,,, regional prison art!

Huge bowls of potato salad, Jimmy!  For side dishes?  And we didn't know that the sandwiches came with potato chips anyway.   :D

Wicked good, we learned about that expression.

Yes, regional prison art, but I looked up their web site today to verify the town, and someone there commented "better than license plates."  What was surprising was the high quality of some of the larger and more expensive items.

After leaving Camden, ME and giving up on Mount Battie (the trip's only real disappointment) we continued north to Bar Harbor, where we would stay for Tuesday and Wednesday night (the evenings of Days 4 and 5).

Don't know how the tour company pulled this off, but this was our hotel.  It is rated Four-Diamond by the American Automobile Association.

One of my pet peeves with dining in the USA is they serve potato chips with everything and I do not eat potato chips as I try to avoid too much salt.

Our first dinner in Boothbay Harbor Inn had been an all-included (free except for alcoholic drinks) group dinner at that Inn, with a choice of four entrees, and I chose the chicken.  Our first dinner in Bar Harbor was also an all-included group dinner at the fancy Looking Glass Restaurant next door to the Bluenose Inn, at the sister hotel.  It was billed as a lobster dinner, but again there were four choices of entrees, and I chose the haddock.

On the first morning in Bar Harbor, we returned to the Looking Glass Restaurant for a free group breakfast.  The Rose Garden, the more casual of the two restaurants at the inn, is where we had a free group breakfast on our last morning at the Bluenose Inn.

The Great Room, which has a bar, and where a piano player entertains nightly after 7:00 PM.  Although the piano was an interesting idea, I was too tired to go back downstairs to hear it either night.

Our rooms were actually suites, with king beds, TV and dresser in half of the room; and a sofa, coffee table, two wing chairs and an electric fireplace in the other half.

The fireplace wasn't actually needed for warmth, but I did run it a little on the cool mornings, mostly because it was pleasant to look at.

Each room had a balcony, but even without going out onto the balcony, the rooms had a view of the water and some small islands.

Looking out the door to the balcony at boats in the fog, on Tuesday afternoon shortly after we checked in.
