Indeed, after calling the Obamas “magnificent,” he was then overtly rude to them, portraying a do-nothing Washington that had betrayed the people and enriched itself.

As I will only respond to intelligent posts, I will say to this, I agree.   That speech was preachy and rude, with the Obama's and past Presidents there, I don't think it was appropriate.

If you watched you would have seen the look on Michelle's face, and Obama's, they were pissed you could tell.

The mood definitely shifted after that.

What Trump will say:  Fake photos.

As I will only respond to intelligent posts....

how's that feel, Lyle?

And I agree w/your post that his address was just another campaign speech.  Thank god he saved saying something "nice" about Clinton for the luncheon, or his minions would have started the chant...

The death knell for the United States of America started on November 8, 2016 and will ring until there is an impeachment, or until November 3, 2020, or until the United States of America no longer exists.  Only then will the ringing cease.

I am not a pessimist. I firmly believe this.

I hold out no hope for impeachment, as the Republican held government will NEVER admit to the biggest mistake they have ever made.

We decided to curtail our demonstrating today. It's been raining in varying degrees of severity
for twelve hours straight now.  Instead of spending so much time in the rain we decided to partake
in the pleasures of home, warmth, food, friends and togetherness. To enjoy people we like instead of
more protesting of someone we do not. Besides, the Women's March is tomorrow and a break in the
weather is supposed to happen then between our second and third, worse, storm arriving!

Los Angeles Times:
Get Ready to Get Wet, Protesters
The storm could deposit over 2 inches of rain in Los Angeles by the end of the day.
“I guess it’ll match what you see on TV because I think they’re supposed to get a little
rain in Washington, D.C.,” a demonstrator said. “It’ll make you feel like you’re there.”
Parts of Los Angeles and Ventura counties were issued warnings of potential thunderstorms,
hail and waterspouts.

This L.A. Times current article link usually disappears in a couple days unless you're a subscriber:

Just to be clear, though: I love this weather...we haven't had it for so long!

I love this article.  I'd post the whole thing here, but...

Donald Trump Still Can't Escape Hillary Clinton

Clinton may not have been the right person to beat Trump in November,
but since then, she's been the perfect person to lose to him.

It would not at all have surprised me if Trump had gotten his devotees to shout
"Lock her up," during his speech today.

Retiring my sig line today:

Official: Hillary Clinton won the U.S. National Vote by 2,864,978 votes, 48.2% to 46.1%.

one of the women commentators said she was reminiscent of Jacqueline Kennedy...I'm sure Mrs. Kennedy is rolling in her grave at that comparison.

I'll bet she was, too.

“I was very honored — very, very honored — when I heard that President Bill Clinton and Secretary Hillary Clinton were coming today and I think it’s appropriate to say and I’d like you to stand up,” he said, joining in as the audience clapped. “And honestly there’s nothing more I can say because I have a lot of respect for those two people so thank you all for being here.”

Something tells me that if you were in Nazi Germany in the 30's,
you'd have remarked the same statement about Eva Braun.

Meeow. ...

I don't know why you hate Melania so much, Lyle. I even find it hard to believe she had anything to do with the writing of the speech where she plagiarized Michelle Obama.

I'll give the woman this much: She had the mind to sell herself to marry The Donald. (Not that that's necessarily something to admire her for.)

[From The Guardian article]
But there was no reassurance or olive branch extended to the majority of Americans who did not vote for him.

And, indeed, why should there be? Thanks to the Electoral College, he won, and Publicans have the House and the Senate. He has no need to reach out to anyone.

yeah, marrying a racist pig?  that's not really a selling point...what do you "give" her?

and she clearly shares his views, so maybe that's one reason Lyle can't stand her...not to speak for Lyle, just guessing...
