And the very well know theme music from that film.
This instrumental was on the Billboard charts at #1 for 9 weeks!

I've read that.

Andy Williams version...I don't recall the lyrics being used in the movie?
Anyone know for sure?

There were no lyrics in the film.

Such a great score, hugely popular, and no Oscar nomination! ?

Gambit, one of my guilty pleasure movies, although I just checked Rotten Tomatoes and it's 81%, is on TMC at 5pm tonight.  Although I guess there would be an big uproar today if they tried to cast Shirley MacLaine playing a Eurasian  ::)

Harry Dean (Michael Caine) is a career burglar set on stealing a piece of priceless art from the world's wealthiest man, Mr. Shahbandar (Herbert Lom). With the help of exotic showgirl Nicole Chang (Shirley MacLaine), he concocts the perfect scheme for how the robbery should go and lays it out point by point. However, when the team tries to execute the plan, perfection and reality don't quite match up, and Harry's vision begins to unravel in this twisty tale of a heist gone wrong.

I like the original tagline of that movie. I was going to quote it, but here's the poster:

Yet not the other way. Recently I saw Ophelia, loosely based on Hamlet, and both Polonius and Horatio were black and there were other Asian actors. In the medieval Danish court?

I just see that they've done a remake of Gambit with Colin Firth and Cameron Diaz, who I despise.  I watched a little of the trailer, it looks dismal.

I noticed that was a remake in 2012, when I looked up the poster for the original. I don't even recall that coming out. A note on imdb says two things: 1.) The script was extensively rewritten to get a PG rating (it ran 89 mins.) and that 2.) it said though ostensibly a remake, it's really quite different. Whatever that means!

2012?  I thought it was recent.  Sounds as if it went straight to video...and I wonder what they had to rewrite to make it PG, the original was G.

I haven't checked, but wasn't she also the Indian woman in Around the World in Eighty Days?

In the current Broadway revival of Oklahoma! Laurie is African American.

I haven't seen any movies this weekend, but this is movie-related, and I thought you movie fans would like this.

Just saw this on FB, and I had to spread the word about this.

Google search "The Wizard of Oz" and you'll see this (image below) click the red slippers. Just do it. Later there will be another image to click. Just do it. LOL

The Maltese Falcon is on TCM tonight. I really like this film--great cast!--but I'm not sure I'll watch it tonight. I'm not feeling in the mood for it.

I just watched Once Upon a Time in Hollywood tonight. Hmmmm? Not sure what to say about it. I found the ending odd, for sure. I loved how they didn't try to hide the true ages of Leo or Brad. Although Brad is aging quite well!!  :o :o :o.....Leo? He's on his way to a triple chin if he's not careful, or finds a nice surgeon somewhere! As far as the rest of the cast? Mostly forgettable.........Pitt and Leo held this film together. Will it get Oscar attention? Probably not........loved seeing Emile Hirsch though.........

I watched it anyway, or, at any rate, had it on in the background while I did other things. However, last night I was struck by how melodramatic many of Mary Astor's lines were. Blame that on John Huston, I guess.
