It was a lopsided but good game. This is the first team from Louisiana to win the championship, first team to lose 1 game and win the championship. This Little League had only been in existence for 6 years. One of the kids hit 17 of 23, for 739. 17 hits is a record for the LL over 11 days. Of these,  7 were doubles. Every kid on the team had hits. This  team outscored their opponents 41 to 5 over 5 games!!!
Nature has cunning ways of finding our weakest spot.

I think their uniforms blinded Curacao!  ;D

No, they really shut out their opponents, 8-0! Way to go!

Fritz, your Nationals swept the Cubs in a series for the 1st time since 2005 and are 4 games in front for a Wild Card game spot. Wish it hadn't been against the Cubs because that means St. Louis is in first place and they are always a worry for the Dodgers!

The Dodgers bats (at home!) were pretty quiet against the Yankees this weekend as we eked out one game. What does it all mean?  ???

Fritz, did you ever think a couple months ago? I read today that "the Nationals have all but sewn up a place in the Wild Card race this past week and we'll see how they go about gaining on the first place Braves for the division title."

Dodgers had a rough time in Arizona the past 4 days, starting out the first three games with 3 - 0 leads and winding up losing all those 11-4, 5-4, 6-5.  We won the last game yesterday in 11 innings, 4-3. All Dodger scoring was single home runs.

Arizona scored two of their runs from a ball that hit our new rookie pitcher, Dustin May, in the face, but he avoided serious injury, though I don't know what that kind of scare does to a young pitcher. May has a bright red mop of hair and people call him Gingergaard, which is, I'm assuming, a play on the Met's pitcher with flowing locks named Noah Syndergaard. Noah's nickname is Thor. Another pitch in Arizona landed on Dodger Max Muncy's wrist and broke it and he'll be out now for awhile. I know Arizona is battling for a Wild card spot, but sheesh!

Yes, it's quite astonishing. I'm sure Harper is surprised too.

This past weekend was the Junior Grand Prix of figure skating.   Skaters who aren't old enough to compete as seniors and go to the World Championships and Olympics compete at the Junior level.

Young Russian girls have run the JGP for the last 20 events, racking up an impressive streak.

That streak was broken by US skater Alysa Liu, who won the US National Championship last season.  She was too young to compete at the Junior Grand Prix, so this season was her debut.  In her long program she made history by becoming the first woman ever to land a triple axel and a quadruple lutz in the same program.

She is just 14 years old.

She won even with a fall in her program, when she attempted a 2nd triple axle.

Yes, that game was the talk of the local news this morning, even outside of sports. Quite something!

If you look at the statistics for MLB games from yesterday, you'll find that MLB player Nicholas Castellanos hit a home run against the Brewers and also hit one against the Oakland A's. How is that possible?
