It's a lost cause for KC now. 12 games out of first place? Not gonna happen! I see the Dodgers are getting close though!  ;D

However, on the bright side, whoever thought the METS would be in first place this long?! They're a contender now!  :o :o :o

^^^

The Mets have largely been in first place so long because they've played 6-8 less games than the other division teams due to a COVID problem and some bad weather when the season started and that's skewing the standings there a bit.

And my Dodgers, which I'm sure other teams fans are like "shut up poor Dodgers boo-hoo", but my current rant is:

Even though we're "right there" in the standings, the Dodgers injuries don't seem to stop. We haven't had our regular starters play a game all at once since the first week of the season. We should be doing a whole lot better. Last night they were announcing the starting lineup and I didn't even recognize some of the names:

Who the heck is Andy Burns, Steve Souza Jr., Luke Raley, Phil Bickford, Yoshi Tsutsugo, Nate Jones? These make all the newer Dodgers like Zach McKinstry and Gavin Lux seem like seasoned veterans and they weren't even expected to be regulars this year.  And with those names playing, it's also a "rest day" for Justin Turner?

No wonder we were shut out (2-0) for the first time since September of 2019. (Against Jacob DeGrom & the Mets, by the way.)

We need our starters off the injured list, especially Cory Seagar, Max Muncy and Cody Bellinger. And Mookie Betts should be better, because he hasn't been what he can be yet this year.

The Dodgers have scored the most runs in baseball this year, but that's because some games we score 10, 11, 12 runs and then the next game 3-4. Or now 0. Anyway...

 ;)

It was nice to see Tuesday night at the stadium sold out and the biggest attendance at any U.S. sporting event since the pandemic started.

They just announced on NBC local news in DC that an active pro football player has come out as gay. Good for him.

"What stays in Vegas...um, wait, what? "

Yeah, I didn't even know there was a pro football team called the Las Vegas Raiders.

Carl Nassib, a defensive lineman with the Las Vegas Raiders, became the first active NFL player in league history to announce that he is gay.

"What's up, people," Nassib said Monday in a video on Instagram. "I'm Carl Nassib. I'm at my house here in West Chester, Pennsylvania. I just wanted to take a quick moment to say that I'm gay. I've been meaning to do this for a while now, but I finally feel comfortable enough to get it off my chest."

Nassib, 28, has played five years with three teams and is entering his second season with the Raiders. He said in a statement accompanying the video that he had agonized over the decision to announce he was gay for 15 years.
Nassib added that he was a private person and wasn't seeking publicity.

At least they left the Las in the name, unlike the Golden Knights.

MLB News had an article about Dale Scott, the 1st openly gay MLB umpire today:

Dale Scott's Road to Coming Out
The umpire's decision still resonates here in Pride Month, nearly seven years after he became the first openly gay official in any of the United States' four major male professional leagues.
https://www.mlb.com/news/dale-scott-discusses-coming-out-experience

Canmark (((((( Mark )))))) first posted about it when it became public in 2014.

In 1990 a former MLB umpire wrote a book about his experience in MLB as a gay umpire (not out):
Behind the Mask: My Double Life in Baseball by Dave Pallone.

I wonder if Carl Nassib's decision to come out will prompt any other professional sports players to come out? (Nassib's instagram announcement was so matter of fact and without stress or consternation. That in itself is something refreshing. It was like, so what...now you know. Like he was telling us what kind of pasta he likes or something.)

In France, a couple days ago:

6 French Athletes, Including 3 Current Olympians, Come Out for Pride Month
Six elite French athletes came out at once in a TV documentary. They include three current Olympians, one a gold medal winner.

IMHO, I don't understand, honestly, WHY anyone needs to Come Out in a public announcement. I'm sure it's just me being me, but I don't understand it at all. I NEVER ask a person I meet for the First Time what their sexual preference or orientation is, you know? NEVER, I just try to be polite, maybe get to know them a bit, all that? I would never DREAM to ask them about Sex, Politics or Religion either. I mean, if I state my Politics, or Religion, is that going to make more people do the same? I just don't get it.  ;)

An excellent and very valid point, Fritz.  Saving the life of even one  kid who has no support and has no role models in their lives is worth many people coming forward and saying, this is who I am!
