Nationals' Stephen Strasburg, 2019 World Series MVP, to retire due to rare condition

Darn. Really to sorry to hear this. I like this guy very much. He doesn't deserve it to have to retire so early.

California, Curaçao Little League Baseball World Series Title Game

What an amazing LLWS title game it was! (LLWS games are 6 innings each.) The score in the top of the 5th inning was California 5 - Curaçao 1. Curaçao up to bat. Two outs. Bases loaded. The Curaçao batter unbelievably -- thrillingly -- hits a grand slam home run!!! Score tied 5-5.

Bottom of the 5th, California doesn't score, nor does Curaçao in the top of the 6th. Bottom of the 6th, it seemed to me there was two outs, but I might be wrong, but Louis Lappe hits a game winning Little League World Series Title Winning Walk-Off Home Run for El Segundo, California! Wow!

It's always hard to see the boys on the team that comes in second after so many games and easy to cheer for the winning team's victory.

By the way, I've often joked to friends that my drag name is Elsie Gundo.  ;D

Yes it was a good game. So many highs and lows.

I agree that it's hard to see one of the teams lose. The Texas team was undefeated until it's loss in the US Championship game.

I love the drag name!! ;D

I'd been wanting to and a few days ago I decided it was way past time to go see another Dodger game this year and I decided to go last night because I could get a great seat for a great price (the lowest price i've gotten one in 5-6 years), and it was one of my favorite player's bobblehead giveaway nights (Chris Taylor) and, I found out, also his 33rd birthday!

I also got another unexpected treat. I got to see the LLWS winning team from El Segundo! They were invited to the stadium yesterday afternoon where they got a tour and met the players, got autographed baseballs and such, and then were also honored before the game, making a tour around the field for the fans to see them and then their own section of seats to watch the game; the stadium cameras showing them on occasion between the innings. By all accounts they had an unlimited budget for refreshments all night!  :)

The Dodgers player in the photo is Chris Taylor. His father threw out the ceremonial first pitch to Chris before the game. Chris's father was so happy and he ran back to his son and gave him a big kiss on the cheek, which I thought was great.

Lots of happiness in the stadium last night, along with a fabulous picturesque sunset and a winning game!

The bobblehead I got:

It's interesting, because it doesn't look like it can stand without falling over, but it's somehow weighted so that it does, although in the box it's positioned in the plastic surrounding so that the figure is upright and the base slanted. I guess the box would have to be larger if it wasn't.

Really sweet for the kids. Maybe some day one of them will be standing where Chris Taylor is standing in the photo.

It was great for us, the fans there, too, Linda, because this wasn't something that was announced at all and so to get that surprise was a huge jolt of energy in the stadium!

LoL, I worry about that kid in the photo above, #2, who is not smiling. Maybe he's hungry and just wants to get to the Dodger Dogs!

I read that Louis Lappe, who hit the winning home run, was asked what was surprising about meeting the Dodgers players and he said, "I found out I was taller than Mookie Betts!!!"  :o

Mookie is 5'9".  (I was surprised to read that!) His accomplishments make him seem like he's 7" tall.

How about the poor kid on the left in the back! They should have let him stand in the front.

I bet that was funny for Louis Lappe being taller. The Chinese Taipei pitcher was 12 yo and 6'2"

I'm glad this was such a great surprise for the whole stadium!

Really? 12 years old and 6'2"? Is that a thing now?

I guess so.  I'm not sure where all these 6 ft + kids come from now a days. It doesn't seem to be the exception now.

Josh grew in spurts and was constantly getting shin splints. Those things are painful. I got some when I walked too far and too long when I was in New York!
