The City of Philadelphia must be optimistic. This morning city workers were putting up the barricades at the sidewalk curbs that are put up for parades.

I will watch the World Series only if the Rangers are in it and not the Astr*s. I just hate them. The Rangers have to win two in a row now. Fortunately, since their cheating season of 2017, The Nationals beat them in the WS in 2019 and the Braves beat them in 2021, then they won last year. We must manifest they don't even get there this time.

It's weird that of all the talk this whole season focused on all the "new" excellent teams in the mix all year and most getting into the play-offs -- the Rangers and Arizona and Baltimore and Miami and the Twins and Seattle and all the excitement of that...that it could come down to the same two teams in the WS as last year. Nothing makes sense to me any more. There's no joy in Mudville.

I'd be rooting for the Rangers even though they're a Texas team, mainly because they were once the Washington Senators, and have never been in a WS.

And still, despite Bryce Harper, I wouldn't mind seeing Philadelphia win.

Actually, Fritz, the Rangers have been in the World Series, two years in a row:

2010   San Francisco Giants [W] 4 games to 1 v. Texas Rangers
2011   St. Louis Cardinals    [W] 4 games to 3 v. Texas Rangers
