Wild Card Teams: Padres and 2 of these 3 teams: Mets, D'Backs, Braves

The Braves are 1 game behind the D'Backs and Mets for the Wild Card entry.

I wrote the above two days ago.

Today: The Braves are 1 game behind ahead of the D'Backs and Mets for the Wild Card entry.

 :o

Today's the last day of the regular MLB season and all games start at the same time coast to coast.
Meaning 1pm Pacific to 4pm Eastern.

Except, because of weather a few days ago, the Mets and Braves have a double header tomorrow and how important it will be for them depends on what happens today.

Phillies beat the Nats, 6--3.

There was a salute to Nick Castellanos because he played in every game this season.

I need to try to find a schedule of these games.

Phillies beat the Nats, 6--something (I've already forgotten).
I need to try to find a schedule of these games.

Dodgers and Phillies have the two best records in baseball, so they get a "bye" which means they can skip the first round of the play-offs. So neither team will play until Saturday.

There's always the discussion whether this is a good thing or not for teams to have a week off before they play again. Do they lose a certain edge. The answer is: If they win, no, if they don't, yes! Heh!

Jeff, here's the basic schedule for the teams in the play-offs:

Playoff schedule

Wild-card series
Best of three, all games at better seed's stadium

Game 1: Tuesday, Oct. 1
Game 2: Wednesday, Oct. 2
Game 3: Thursday, Oct. 3*

American League
Wild-card round: (6) Tigers at (3) Astros, (5) Royals at (4) Orioles
National League*
Wild-card round: (6) Mets at (3) Brewers, (5) Braves at (4) Padres

*Likeliest scenario. D'backs have a chance to replace the Braves or Mets who are playing a double header today. One team has to win/lose both games for the D'backs to advance.

Division series
Best of five

ALDS
Game 1: Saturday, Oct. 5
Game 2: Monday, Oct. 7
Game 3: Wednesday, Oct. 9
Game 4: Thursday, Oct. 10*
Game 5: Saturday, Oct. 12*

NLDS
Game 1: Saturday, Oct. 5
Game 2: Sunday, Oct. 6
Game 3: Tuesday, Oct. 8
Game 4: Wednesday, Oct. 9*
Game 5: Friday, Oct. 11*

League championship series
Best of seven

ALCS
Game 1: Monday, Oct. 14
Game 2: Tuesday, Oct. 15
Game 3: Thursday, Oct. 17
Game 4: Friday, Oct. 18
Game 5: Saturday, Oct. 19*
Game 6: Monday, Oct. 21*
Game 7: Tuesday, Oct. 22*

NLCS
Game 1: Sunday, Oct. 13
Game 2: Monday, Oct. 14
Game 3: Wednesday, Oct. 16
Game 4: Thursday, Oct. 17
Game 5: Friday, Oct. 18*
Game 6: Sunday, Oct. 20*
Game 7: Monday, Oct. 21*

World Series
Best of seven

Game 1: Friday, Oct. 25
Game 2: Saturday, Oct. 26
Game 3: Monday, Oct. 28
Game 4: Tuesday, Oct. 29
Game 5: Wednesday, Oct. 30*
Game 6: Friday, Nov. 1*
Game 7: Saturday, Nov. 2*

Note: If both LCS end by Oct. 19 -- meaning neither series lasts longer than five games -- the World Series will begin on Tuesday, Oct. 22

* If necessary

Thanks, I looked it up and watched his segment on youtube! He wasn't his usual self, meaning he seemed a little out of it, but Jimmy's questions last night weren't the best, Heh! It was nice seeing Mookie somewhere else, though! I really like Mookie! And who doesn't like to say Mookie!

Go Royals. Bobby Witt's on fire.
I have to say, though, that I'm very surprised the Orioles didn't do better.
The low scores for the games indicate really good pitching on both sides.
Sorry, Fritz, who are you going to root for now?
I do have to say how happy I am the Astr*s are out. Good riddance.

Wild Card Round: Win 2 of 3 games to advance.
NL: Dodgers and Phillies get to skip this round.
AL: Yankees and Guardians get to skip this round.

AL Wild Card - DET Wins series 2-0
Game 1: Detroit @ Houston DET 3, HOU 1
Game 2: Detroit @ Houston DET 5, HOU 2

AL Wild Card - KC Wins series 2-0
Game 1: Kansas City @ Baltimore KC 1, BAL 0
Game 2: Kansas City @ Baltimore KC 2, BAL 1
---
NL Wild Card -  Series Tied 1-1
Game 1: New York @ Milwaukee NYM 8, MIL 4
Game 2: New York @ Milwaukee NYM 3, MIL 5

NL Wild Card -  SD Wins series 2-0
Game 1: Atlanta @ San Diego SD 4, ATL 0
Game 1: Atlanta @ San Diego SD 5, ATL 4

The Mets and Brewers play one game today to decide who will advance.
Both of those teams can be problematic when their on a roll!

San Diego won their games at their home park. The other teams who moved on were on the road.

The NLDS and ALDS games start Saturday!

Jeff, the Phillies will play the winner of today's game, Either the Mets or Brewers. You have a preference?
The Dodgers are playing San Diego. They are trouble, I hope we can overcome it!
Jonn, the Royals will be playing the Yankees, as you mentioned. The dreaded Yankees! Heh!

When the Dodgers played the Yankees three times in NYC the first week of June, those were my favorite games we played all year. Great baseball. Also because Dodger fan groups had booked lots of advance tickets and were there in force. They even got a permit for a Dodgers parade outside the stadium and were escorted by the NYPD. That would've been so cool to have been there. Also we won the 1st game in 11 innings 2-1 Had a little blowout in the 2nd game and won 11-3. Lost a really close 3rd game 6-4.
