I suspect this guy is hunkier and hairier.

Lyle, on Sport's  Center this morning I saw what the Dodgers did in their game yesterday. It was totally amazing. I think they said that this was the first time in MLB history that the first three batters up to bat to each hit a home run.

On the same show they showed the Top 10 plays from yesterday. In Women's College Softball, Virginia Tech accomplished a 7-4-3 triple play against Stanford women. It was totally crazy ! Virginia Tech won 8-7.

Linda, that was the Yankees...  The Dodgers once had the first three batters up hit home runs, but the Yankees this time hit the three homers on the 1st pitch. I'm sensing the Yankees have pent up frustration because of their World Series issues.

The Yankees did it off their former pitcher, Nestor Cortes, who gave up, on one pitch, the grand slam home run in the first WS game last fall. He was with the Yankees for 5 years. I don't know why they traded him this season, but, man, I don't know what kind of person you have to be to be able to overcome those things. All he responded to questions asked him afterwards was, “Obviously, it didn't go the way I planned."

You're right Lyle. I must have been half asleep. I was right about the women's softball triple play though.

Yes, it's been on several newscasts including the national news. They declared it legal, and it seems that some players on other teams are in the process of adopting it.

I read about them. I'm not sure about them. It looks like there are mixed feelings about them.

One of the Phillies used one in the home opener yesterday. I don't remember who it was; it might have been Bryson Stott.

I know it wasn't the Schwar-bomber.

Evidently many clubs are now using, or going to use, those NEW bats! I know my KC team could sure use SOMETHING to get them going this year!!

Lyle, what's up with Freddie Freeman? Several injuries already this year. Is it his Age working against him now, or just happenstances? One must know!  :o ;D

Freeman sprained his ankle badly last September ahead of the playoffs. In the off-season he had it "surgically repaired." During Spring Training Freeman said that he will likely need to "manage it" throughout the season and is still undergoing treatment before and after games. He played well in the opening series with Detroit, with 3 hits and a home run. Then he missed the series opener against the Atlanta Braves on Monday because, as manager Dave Roberts told reporters, Freeman "had a little mishap” getting into the shower, which caused his surgically-repaired right ankle to swell “a little bit.” Freeman always feels he could go out there and play, but Robert's wants to let him recoup and see. He added that, "Freeman’s ankle wasn’t 100% even before his slip but he's still in a good spot with the bat. We are playing it safe despite the negative X-rays."

What's up with the Atlanta Braves this year? They've lost 6 games in a row to start the season. Only two teams have won all their games so far to start this season. The Dodgers have won 7 in a row, tying the 1933 New York Yankees of Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig for the best start to a season for a reigning champion. They've also tied their own record of 7 wins to start a season, matching the 1981 Dodgers team. The franchise record is the Brooklyn team of 1955 who won 10 games in a row to start the season.

The other team who's won all 6 of their games so far are those pesky Padres, right behind us. Wouldn't you know? Atlanta can take some solace with their 6 game losing streak that the Padres and Dodgers are who they've lost to. We play them one more time tonight, and the Braves will be happy to go back to Atlanta, have a day off, and then play Miami.

The Dodgers had a rough time with the Padres in the play-offs last fall. They were ahead of us in the division series and the Dodgers had to win two in a row to move on. You'd think "baseball" would be talking about the Padres right now, but they are not, which the Padres probably don't mind. There's more pressure with the spotlight on you. Last year the Dodgers played them several times the first month of the season. This year we don't play them until mid-June.
