I've mentioned recently that most anything that can go wrong for the DOdgers this year,
has gone wrong, but tonight takes the prize.
A Philly player came to home plate in the top of the second inning,
while our catcher had a little problem corraling the ball thrown to
him from outfielder Cody Bellinger. Our catcher asked the home
plate umpire if the Philly player had touched the plate. The umpire
said he did.
Obviously, as you can see, he DID NOT! And not by a little. By a lot.
As the Dodger TV announcer was asking on air, "Why is he safe when he didn't touch home plate?"
the Dodger team's video crew, nor other personnel on the field or in the dugout, who should have
noticed the miss and told Roberts (Dodger manager) to appeal before the next pitch, obviously failed.
So, bad call #1 on the umpire. Bad call #2 on the Dodgers. This is really unacceptable.
The Dodgers lost 2-1.
