Before the first Wild Card game I read several sports articles concerning the play-offs right through the World Series and the odds and percentages of who all the sports writers and experts figured have the best chance to win the whole enchilada and everyone (I hate that all encompassing word) thinks Houston has the edge.  >:D

(I said "enchilada" because I had enchiladas last night at El Compadre on Sunset Blvd. with three friends, including Ken & Robert whom you know, Fritz.)

I agree with you, too, anybody but Houston and that even means the dreaded Yankees. Ugh.

I knew it would happen one day, well, it did happen with NE last playoffs. KC is in a hurting vulnerable situation now. Mahomes cannot DO everything, all QB's are just lost without great support, and KC was missing that last night, plus toooooo damned many penalties!!! arrrrggghhhhh!!! In the NFL there is no such thing as a One-Man team.......... ;D

I see they fired the Head Coach, and are looking at 'stealing' a Coach from KC?? Did I hear that right? Was this Gruden related to Jon Gruden? The one coaching the Raiders? I could look it up I guess!!  :o

Tight races, except for the Yankees.

Yes, I watched the last hour or more of the Astros/Tampa Bay game and was rooting for Tampa!
We, the Dodgers, played them 4 times this year and we both won one of two in each other's parks.
So with Tampa we, and they, were 2-2. (They were in our inter-league schedule this year.)

I read about Minnesota all season long and how well they were doing, but I never saw them play a game
at any point. They won 101 games this season!

I had looked up the Twins record against Tampa Bay (7 games), Houston (7) and the Yankees (6) this season.

Twins/Tampa Bay W5 - L2
Twins/Houston W3 - L3
Twins/Yankees W2 - L4

They had the worst record against the Yankees, not that that means a whole lot. Maybe their inexperience
in play-off situations...who knows, like I said I had the least knowledge about them. Wish they'd won at least
one game, though.

So, let's look at Tampa's record against Houston (played 7 games) and NY (16) and Houston's and NY (7).

Tampa/Houston W4 - L3
Tampa/Yankees W6 - L10
Houston/Yankees W4  - L3

Well, Fritz, one of us will be happy tomorrow morning.

I don't know how you'll feel, and I'd be happy to know if you'd like to share, but this is how I'll feel, and I'm probably writing this at all to sort out my nervousness for tonight's game. For so many years of when my Dodger fandom started we never got into first place in our division, and that was for 10 years. Then from 2004-2009 we started upward. In that period we had three division wins and had a Wild Card win, but in the play-offs we lost in the first round twice to the Cardinals and Mets, and then we lost in the second round to the Phillies twice.

Then we backslid the next year:
2010: 4th place
2011: 3rd place
2012: 2nd place

The following year we moved to the top and kept climbing:
2014: 1st place, won NLDS, lost NLCS to the Cardinals.
2015: 1st place, lost NLDS to the Cardinals.
2016: 1st place, won NLDS, lost NLCS to the Cubs.
2017: 1st place, won NLDS, won NLCS, lost World Series in 7 to Astros.
2018: 1st place (won in a one game tie-breaker), won NLDS, won NLCS, lost WS in 5 to Boston Red Sox.
2019: 1st place, lost NLDS to Washington Nationals

Dodger fans are tired of hearing for three decades plus, "the Dodgers haven't been to a WS in ____ years" and the last two years "haven't won a World Series" etc. After the last two seasons, even though getting to a WS is difficult enough once, the fans have been primed from day 1 this year for a WS win. All season we've just been waiting for it. We want the demon exorcised! I don't even want to think about an alternative. I've gone all the way past winning the WS to be manifesting a Dodger parade in downtown Los Angeles the end of the month!

Here's some levity:

Last night at the Rays/Astros game, someone had a sign that was similar to this:

.

If those two companies were smart, they'd get together and promote both of their products in a friendly ad for the game tomorrow!

Actually, if those two companies were smart, they'd have thought of it already! For those that don't know, the Astros play their games at Minute Maid Park and the Tampa Bay Rays play at Tropicana Field.
