The thing about this House Speaker vote that's bizarre, is that the 20 people (so far) voting against McCarthy have no other candidate that they are supporting for the job. They're just being obstructionist. They have no real policy arguments about why they are not voting for McCarthy. McCarthy himself, as leader of the House, doesn't even have a policy agenda he's pushing. The current GOP has no idea what they really stand for any more, no agenda to push except obstruction and chaos.
--In the last hour the orange Cretin has put forth his opinion that the GOP shouldn't drag this out. Even though he could have said that yesterday, but the real fact is that he doesn't really care who's speaker. We'll see how much influence he'll have here.
--Also in the last hour the Democrats are going to be urging a no vote on any motion to adjourn because they want the floor vote on McCarthy.
Meanwhile, George Santos first act as a member of Congress yesterday:
George Santos Wrongly Announces He was Sworn In
by Adela Suliman | Washington Post
George Santos shared a falsehood on his first day on Capitol Hill: that he had been sworn in as a member of the House of Representatives. The statement on his official website drew instant criticism because the New York Republican has been accused of fabricating key details of his biography. No elected member of the House was sworn in Tuesday, including Rep.-elect Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) as House Republicans, who secured the majority in November, failed to elect a speaker after McCarthy’s bid was thwarted. Incoming members cannot be sworn in until a speaker is chosen. The House is scheduled to convene at noon on Wednesday, and a fourth round of voting is expected. George Santos had an awkward first day at the office.
“The very first thing, George Santos puts in writing from Congress isn’t true? Shocked,” one Twitter user said. Santos’s statement appears to have been taken down online.
