Hi, I posted first by mistake in the Rules thread...
Our home computer is shared by several family members and one of those members would like to join the forum. But when we try to create a new account for him, it just reverts back to my "user info" box at the top of the page, and the main board menu - we can't seem to get to the registration boxes. Is it possible to register two different identities from the same computer? (We also share our home email address)
Thanks for your help!
Sorry for the delay in responding. It's been a crazy week!
It's certainly possible to for more than one person to share a computer but maintain distinct logins for the forum. In many cases, all you need to do is be certain to log out at the end of each session (there's a logout button near the top of each screen below the stip of picture from the movie).
That said, I have seen some strange behavior in this situation (reverting to a previous login for no obvious reason, as you describe). It's certainly some sort of "cookie" malfunction (cookies are little files maintained by your Web browser to keep track of this sort of information). If the logout button doesn't solve the problem, just let me know. We can try some alternatives.
The shared computer problem is solveable, but the shared e-mail address is a bit trickier. Each registered users needs to have a separate e-mail address. You can always set up a free e-mail address for your loved ones (yahoo.com, hotmail.com etc.).
