Bob - is this "our Bob", maturben?

Yes, that's him.

Oh, dear. That's so sad. I think I met him twice at least. In SF (2007) and in Oxford.

Am I right, friends?

And maybe, he thought, they'd never got much farther than that.

Hello Ing,

I don't have any pics of him at the Rodeo event in '07, but he was definitely at the Oxford event in '08.

OK, thanks, Chuckster.

I'm very sad. He's such a fun guy, I loved his quirky remarks and his rumour.

We just found out today (06/20) that Bob Harris (screen name Maturben) passed away.  Maturben was a longtime member here, best known for wearing a kilt at the Brokie gatherings he attended.  We was as the original BBM BBQ in 2006, the BBM BBQ in 2007, and the Oxford Gathering in 2008.

Bob's first post here, was in the symbolism section of the forum.

So far I have seen the movie only three times but I noticed  in the first and subsequent viewings that when Ennis finds the shirts in Jack's closet the denim shirt (Jack's) is on the outside and Ennis' plaid shirt is inside it.  In the final shirt scene, Ennis' plaid shirt is on the outside and the denim shirt (Jack's) is inside it.  I think that this is significant; particularly in the context of the "Jack, I swear....." line.

Bob's last post here was in March of this year.

howdy folks----hope everyone is heeding the stay-healthy guidelines and not getting too shack wacky yet-----strange weather in our area today-----very windy, nearly 70 F but expected to drop to 30 F overnight----had a PET scan Wed. a.m. and an anomalous mass was detected in the area of last August's lobectomy so my oncologist is trying to set up a biopsy appt but Covid 19 is really messing up way of doing so----jeez oh man !

Thanks Fritz. I am so very sad and upset to hear about his death. He was a wonderful happy and kind friend and a large part of our Brokie family. He will be missed tremendously.

May he rest in peace and now free of pain.  May all of us remember him as a part of our  worldwide Brokie family. :'(
