So very sad to hear of Andy’s death. We shared so much correspondence and so many visits over the years. I stayed in touch for as long as I could after he started to become ill, but eventually it became clear that phone calls and emails were a burden to him. I managed to get news of him once from his friend Neil (not Nax), but after that got no reply. So I have wondered about him so many times since. It’s good to know that he’s now at peace after such a difficult illness.

For those who might want to know, I understand that he had a rare form of Parkinson’s which eventually led to dementia - so hard to believe about such a vibrant person.

I would have liked to have gone to Andy’s funeral on the 11th, but it’s just after I get back from Australia, and the day my English family arrive for a visit. And it’s  a long and complicated journey by train and taxi. I’m hoping I’ll be able to join in on line.

I’ve been thinking about all the good times, with a mixture of gladness and sorrow.

Andy! was like a silver haired James Bond to me, a suave
and charismatic guy with a fabulous tan and white teeth
behind an affable grin, always so friendly and caring,
it seems. I didn’t know him too well but the times
we met was always a treat. I smile to think he’s
“Up in the Air” where the sweetest angels sing.

What a lovely and sweet obituary. And so true.

Jimmy you are wonderful.  ♥

Yes very hard to believe.

Luckily the two of you came here for your visit in 2016. We cherish this special time.

Andy had the most amazing collection of classical CD’s and equally marvellous HiFi system ( the quality of sound blew me away).  He was quite the expert on Joan Sutherland.

I remember that too, even very well. He was also a talented pianist as I found out when playing piano duets with him.

Andy's last post was from April 2016, btw. Already 8 years ago!

Which means he stopped posting before he came visiting us. That was in the summer of 2016.

Almost self-taught too - amazing.

As a very new Brokie I was just not quite ready for Oxford. But I met Andy, Jess, Sonja, Uli and Paola (hope I’ve got them right!) a few months after this at his house. I was SOOO nervous, but then I loved it.
